Senior Engineering Designer (Full-Time; Non-Exempt)
Department Public Works – Engineering
Job Summary Using acceptable engineering knowledge and concepts, develop computer‑generated drawings, maps and other documents related to existing city infrastructure and internal designs for new infrastructure, as well as informational documents for the general public, other city departments, and government agencies. Provide input for developing contract documents and specifications for construction of new infrastructure. Develop sketches, drawings and procedures for work to be done by City field crews under the work order program. Perform construction inspections on small in‑house projects and/or commercial development as required. Work under the supervision of the Assistant City Engineer and the general supervision of the City Engineer and Public Works Department Director. This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
This position is designated as Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol screening.
Salary and Benefits Salary: $62,088–$77,610 annually, depending upon qualifications and experience.
Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 7:30 am–5:30 pm; Friday, 7:30 am–11:30 am (40 hours/week).

Essential Functions
Operate Computer Aided Design (CAD) software for civil design
Perform survey and field investigations/reconnaissance
Interact with internal and external clients (citizens)
Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience
Associate’s degree in a technical discipline with specialization in AutoCAD Civil 3D
Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in design/drafting of civil engineering projects
Preferred: design and/or construction of water distribution, wastewater collection, streets/roadways, stormwater systems, GIS experience using ESRI software and OFMA training
Valid Oklahoma driver’s license with acceptable driving record

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of:
Surveying, civil engineering, drafting terminology, methods, practices and techniques
Microcomputers, including word processing, spreadsheet and database software packages
Computer-aided drafting; evidence of CAD proficiency in the latest version of AutoCAD Civil 3D
Pavement management software operation and maintenance
Engineering maps, records and record‑keeping systems
Construction methods and materials for public works facilities
Narrative and statistical report preparation, formatting
High school algebra, geometry and trigonometry; college coursework preferred
Ability to:
Perform field surveys with GPS rover unit and/or levels
Prepare detailed plans for utility, street, drainage and site projects utilizing Civil 3D
Update water, sewer and drainage atlases; maintain pavement management software; relay information to the City’s GIS analyst
Working Environment and Physical Requirements Work is primarily in an office environment with moderate noise levels and controlled temperature conditions. Occasional outdoor work (≈10 %) may be required. The job involves sitting or standing and walking between work areas, manipulating standard office equipment, and occasionally lifting, carrying or pulling objects up to 50 lb.
