Northwest University’s (NU) Center for English Language Education (CELE) is seeking adjunct ESL professors to teach 1-3 ESL classes for international students at our main campus in Kirkland, WA beginning in the Fall 2025 Semester (August 25th – December 12th). CELE is NU’s intensive English program that serves both degree and non‑degree seeking ESL students wanting to improve their English skills.
Instructors need to prepare and deliver lessons, utilize Moodle CMS, Microsoft 365, and textbook online platforms, give appropriate feedback, and submit grades in a timely manner. Teachers in our CELE program are expected to attend bi‑monthly teacher meetings to the best of their abilities.
Qualifications
Holds a doctorate or master’s degree in TESOL or a closely related field from an accredited college or university. Holding an additional CELTA or SIT TESOL Certificate is a plus.
Has a demonstrated record of successful ESL/EFL teaching with student‑centered language learning principles.
Has experience, or an interest and willingness, to learn new technology. Must be willing to adapt quickly to flexible classroom technology requirements.
Possesses a deep, personal commitment to Jesus Christ and to the Spirit‑filled life.
Establishes and maintains positive relationships with students, faculty, university staff, and the general constituency of the University.
Compensation Instructor is paid per credit at the rate of $775 per credit. Classes are usually 3‑6 credits each.
