Position Purpose
To connect people to full life in Jesus Christ through traditional music and worship. Position Overview
This position will primarily focus on leading traditional worship services with the following priorities: Christ-centered worship Gospel communication through music Choir development Responsibilities
Every candidate will bring a unique mix of gifts and passions that will shape the particulars of this position. The responsibilities include at least the following: Traditional Music and Worship
Work with Worship and Music Commission and pastors to provide for worship of the congregation Collaborate with pastors to choose songs for worship services connected to scriptural themes Recruit, direct, and manage Sanctuary choir Recruit, direct, and manage Chancel Handbell choir Play and sing as needed in worship services Accompany Women's Ensemble in worship Schedule and accompany soloists for worship services Develop opportunities for next generation (children and students) to learn and share musical gifts in worship. Collaborate with pastors and contemporary music director in developing and implementing blended worship experiences Provide liturgical leadership, as assigned, during worship services Along with pastors, provide care and support to choir members Administrative
Supervise part-time Music Associate Staff representative for monthly Worship & Music Commission meetings Lead the Ocean Classic Concert Council Attend Session Meetings as Needed Instrument maintenance (organ, piano, bells, etc) Develop and manage the budget for traditional music ministries with commission oversight Maintain accurate information in weekly worship scripts General
Prioritize personal spiritual growth, self-care, and continuing education. Explore and implement other opportunities to integrate music into the mission and ministry of the church Other duties as necessary or assigned by Head of Staff Schedule
This is a part-time salaried position consisting of approximately 16-18 hours per week, including mid‑week rehearsal and weekend/holiday worship services. Current weekly rehearsals and/or services are Thursdays 6:00 – 9:00 pm and Sundays 9:00 am – 10:30 am. Duration
This is an at-will position, both PCTR and the candidate have the right to terminate the relationship at any time. All positions have a 3‑month probationary period. Qualities
Passionate disciple of Jesus Christ, musically gifted, forms meaningful relationships with people of various ages, self‑starter, empowering leader, team builder, team player, organized, and effective communicator. Qualifications
Classical music training and choir direction experience. Proficient on piano and organ. Satisfactory background checks and drug screening. This is a non‑ordained position. Accountability
Serves as staff representative with Worship & Music Commission. Relates directly to the Senior Pastor/Head of Staff and Personnel Commission for support and accountability.
