The Role We are seeking a

Controls Engineer

responsible for executing controls engineering activities for current and future projects. In this role, you will collaborate closely with process teams, equipment suppliers, plant safety, skilled trades, and launch teams to ensure successful project execution. Key responsibilities include supporting G-Comply activities, machine runoff, installation, debug, PPAP, and launch deliverables across various manufacturing engineering programs.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to understand functional requirements, generate innovative ideas, develop project plans, and implement solutions.

Support plant-floor equipment installation; track and resolve controls-related issues promptly to meet project timelines.

Participate in risk assessments for new or retooled equipment and work with process engineers to close open issues.

Review and approve electrical and pneumatic equipment designs, ensuring compliance with GM specifications and use of GM-approved components.

Validate and document as-built prints and post-MRO revisions in Teamcenter for accuracy.

Complete controls engineering checklist items in G-Comply; partner with Safety and ME teams to resolve issues.

Participate in OEM machine runoffs and plant-floor debug activities; track and resolve controls-related issues.

Perform safety validations and coordinate responsibilities with OEMs; assist in developing SOPs, TIS, and safety placards.

Coordinate with IT teams for network validations and PC joins.

Actively support throughput improvement activities (TIP) to achieve launch production ramp plans.

Follow standardized processes for program execution.

What You’ll Need (Required Qualifications)

Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience.

5+ years of professional controls engineering experience.

Proficiency with Rockwell Automation or Siemens PLC & HMI systems (or equivalent).

Strong expertise in assembly controls topics: machine logic, debug, robotics, safety circuits, IT integration, etc.

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

Experience with GM Global Common Controls Architecture.

Knowledge of GM Global Machinery and Equipment Specifications.

Fanuc robot programming experience.

Familiarity with machine vision systems and laser etching systems.

Proficiency in AutoCAD and ePLAN.
