Job Title: Accounting Manager, H&S
Pay Details: The annual base salary range for this position in California is $140,000 to $160,000 per year. The starting pay for the successful candidate depends on various job-related factors, including but not limited to the candidate's geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, education/training, internal value, peer equity, external market demands, and organizational considerations.
The Accounting Manager supports daily finance operations and ensures accurate financial records. This role records journal entries, reconciles accounts, processes accounts payable and receivable, and supports financial reporting and analysis. The Accounting Manager applies accounting principles, financial analysis, and knowledge of regulatory compliance to support all aspects of the team's accounting and finance functions. This position is responsible for processing the full scope of accounting duties for multiple entities, providing end-to-end ownership of assigned areas.
Responsibilities
Process the full scope of accounting duties for multiple entities, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, reconciliations, reporting, and compliance, ensuring end-to-end ownership of assigned areas Execute month-end and year-end closing procedures, including reconciling accounts, preparing journal entries, and ensuring adherence to accounting standards Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements Prepare, file, and pay quarterly and annual sales tax returns Perform general ledger activities, ensuring the accurate and timely recording of financial transactions Conduct regular reconciliations of bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness Process accounts payable/receivable transactions, verifying accuracy, resolving discrepancies, and maintaining proper records Prepare monthly financials, bank reconciliations, and adjusting journal entries Assist with the preparation of tax returns and compliance filings, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements Conduct detailed financial analyses to support strategic decision-making and entity-level reporting Work closely with internal and external auditors during periodic audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements by staying current on changes in tax laws, regulations, and accounting practices, and implementing necessary adjustments Prepare and process payroll through Workday Cover any staff function with processing responsibilities as needed and serve as backup to accounting team members Perform other duties and projects as assigned Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred A minimum of 10+ years of experience in accounting roles, with a strong focus on financial recordkeeping and analysis 15-20 years of experience outside of a CPA firm preferred High level of experience with payroll processing and related payroll duties, including quarterly and year-end W2 processing In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Knowledge of the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable function Knowledge of generally accepted accounting procedures and principles Knowledge of accounting procedures and methods and able to apply them to complex transactions Advanced computer skills in MS Office Able to prepare payroll, financial, and accounting records Able to compile, organize, interpret, and communicate accounting data and results concisely
