Position Summary:
Revolution Space is looking for a dynamic and growth-oriented Buyer/Planner who will manage end-to-end procurement processes from sourcing and negotiation to production planning while ensuring compliance with strict industry regulations and quality standards. Forecast demand, plan orders, negotiate with vendors, and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure timely delivery, quality products, and cost-efficiency. Prepare reports, spreadsheets, and dashboards to manage purchasing and planning activities.
Responsibilities:
Source and purchase space-related electronic components (EEE parts), make-to-spec parts, materials, and services for propulsion and satellite systems. Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts while ensuring compliance with technical specifications and quality standards. Create and maintain material requirement plans based on production schedules and program forecasts. Ensure materials are available to meet manufacturing needs while minimizing excess inventory. Interface directly with suppliers and subcontractors to procure materials and components. Manage vendor-managed inventory (VMI) programs. Monitor supplier performance and drive continuous improvements. Track orders and delivery schedules to ensure on-time arrival. Expedite critical orders when needed and proactively resolve supply chain risks. Ensure all purchases comply with space industry standards including EAR, ITAR, NASA standards, and aerospace quality requirements. Maintain accurate procurement records and supplier certifications. Maintain comprehensive procurement data using Excel and other tools in the absence of a traditional ERP system. Create tracking spreadsheets, dashboards, and reports to manage purchasing activities. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications:
Education:
A bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering or a related field APICS/CPIM certification is a plus Experience:
3+ years of procurement and supply chain planning experience in the space, aerospace, defense or high-tech manufacturing industries Experience working in small to medium size organizations is a plus Experience with vendor-managed inventory (VMI) programs, working with subcontractors and long lead-time requirements Knowledge:
Knowledge of EAR, ITAR, NASA standards, or AS9100 requirements Knowledge of space-related electronic components or make-to-spec parts Knowledge of electronic component specifications and technical datasheets Skill:
Advanced Excel skills (e.g. pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas, and dashboard creation) Negotiation Analytical Organizational Problem solving Communication Detail oriented/attention to detail Abilities:
Operate a personal computer and the applicable hardware and software Organize and prioritize work and make appropriate decisions Read and interpret written instructions and procedures Read, write, speak and comprehend the English language Feel and see to evaluate various products Vision adequate to type, write, read and proof various documents Hear and speak to communicate over the telephone and computer Hand-eye coordination sufficient to use computer and review data and reports Lift, hold and carry objects weighing up to 25 lbs. For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $85,000 to $120,000 US Dollar (USD) Salaried based on a variety of factors.
