We are seeking an experienced 1st Class Submersible Pump Technician with a strong background in electrical rotating equipment to join our team in Chesapeake, Virginia. Senior Pump Technician .

About the Role

The Senior Pump Technician is responsible for working with other technicians to assemble and disassemble between-bearing pumps, overhung pumps, vertical pumps, and other high-energy rotating equipment. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and the ability to follow established procedures while mentoring others and collaborating within a skilled team. The ideal candidate is a first-class craftsman who takes pride in quality workmanship, understands both the technical and practical aspects of pump repair and assembly, and can handle complex repairs across a variety of pump types.

Key Responsibilities

Work safely in a team environment and comply with all EMC policies and procedures. Participate in pre-job briefs with team leads to review job expectations and checklists. Disassemble, clean, inspect, and reassemble pumps and components, including between-bearing, overhung, vertical, and other high-energy rotating equipment. Work independently and efficiently during disassembly and assembly, ensuring all critical components meet specifications. Inspect pump components dimensionally and visually using precision tools, documenting with detailed notes and photos. Verify all parts are free of foreign material prior to and during assembly. Hand-dress parts (grind) for proper appearance or functional dimensions, chase threads, tap holes, and make gaskets as needed. Perform static and dynamic balancing of pump components using balancing equipment and following specifications. Recommend cost-effective repair solutions based on inspection and investigation of wear or failure. Prepare drawings, repair notes, and specifications for machining or outside vendors. Operate lift equipment and cranes safely to move parts and pumps. Prepare pumps for shipment by painting, cleaning, wrapping, and skidding products to meet customer requirements. Multi-task effectively in a fast-paced and unpredictable environment. Complete and maintain all records, reports, photos, and documentation accurately. Work overtime as needed to meet production schedules and customer demands. Qualifications

5+ years of hands-on experience with pump and rotating equipment repair. Proficiency in precision measuring tools (micrometers, dial indicators, vernier calipers, etc.). Strong knowledge of pump types (between-bearing, overhung, vertical, centrifugal, multistage, positive displacement). Ability to perform static and dynamic balancing of rotating components. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and repair specifications. Field service experience (removal, installation, troubleshooting); preferred. Strong commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork. Demonstrated ability to multi-task and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
