Job Summary
Provide advanced technical oversight, mentorship, and quality assurance for the repair and maintenance of large vertical induction motors (1000 HP-5000 HP and above) and large 2-pole horizontal machines, as well as DC and synchronous machines. Serve as the technical authority within the service center, ensuring all work meets or exceeds EASA AR100 and company standards. Collaborate with Operations and Project Management teams, supporting the Vice President of Operations and Vice President of Projects by offering expert guidance on technical matters, repair methodologies, and best practices. This position will focus on large vertical machines as a significant portion of annual aftermarket repair work, while also maintaining expertise in large horizontal machines.
Qualifications
High school diploma required; advanced technical training or apprenticeship in electromechanical repair preferred. Minimum of five years' direct, hands-on experience in an EASA-qualified aftermarket repair shop, specializing in large vertical induction motors and large 2-pole horizontal machines. Demonstrated expertise in the repair, overhaul, and testing of large vertical and horizontal induction motors, as well as large DC and synchronous machines. Extensive familiarity with a wide range of OEM configurations and designs for both vertical and horizontal machines. Experience providing technical guidance, mentorship, or training to mechanics and technicians with limited to no available OEM literature Strong mechanical aptitude and advanced knowledge of repair procedures, failure analysis, and quality standards for large rotating equipment. Ability to foster a collaborative, learning-focused environment and promote a strong technical reputation for the company and the customers it serves Physical Abilities
Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. Climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as required by large equipment work. Clearly see 20+ feet with or without corrective lenses; possess close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Key Responsibilities
Provide technical oversight and review of all major repairs and maintenance activities involving large vertical induction motors (with emphasis on verticals as a major portion of annual work), large 2-pole horizontal machines, DC, and synchronous machines. Mentor and train mechanics and technicians, ensuring adherence to best practices and EASA AR100 standards. Review and validate repair plans, methodologies, and quality assurance procedures developed by Project Managers and shop personnel. Serve as the technical escalation point for complex troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and repair recommendations. Conduct or oversee quality inspections and final acceptance testing of completed work. Collaborate with the Vice President of Operations, Operations Manager, and Project Managers to ensure technical alignment and continuous improvement. Support the Vice President of Projects by providing technical input on customer correspondence, repair scope development, and risk assessment. Apply expertise in a wide variety of OEM configurations and designs, ensuring proper repair and restoration practices for different manufacturers' equipment. Stay current with industry standards, emerging technologies, and EASA guidelines; attend relevant seminars and training as needed. Promote and enforce safety procedures and the use of proper protective equipment. Perform other technical oversight duties as assigned by management. NOTE: This position requires drug and background screening.
