At Wellfit, we're transforming healthcare payments through financial technology. Our platform enables patient financing, provider billing, and pay-by-card transactions across the care ecosystem. We operate as aPayment Facilitator (PayFac)and manage end-to-end processing, underwriting, disbursement, and settlement operations. We're seeking aProduct Owner with deep PayFac and card processing experienceto drive the next generation of our payments infrastructure.
About the Role:
As the Product Owner forPayments Infrastructure, you'll own the delivery and evolution of systems powering our payment transaction routing and settlement infrastructure, payment orchestration and authorization flows, gateway and processor integrations, and reconciliation workflows. You'll partner closely with Product Managers, Engineering, and Architecture to build scalable, compliant, and high-performing transaction systems. This role requires atechnical product mindset-understanding how funds actually move through the rails, how sub-merchants are boarded and funded, and how compliance, risk, and performance intersect at scale.
Key Responsibilities
• Own the core payments platform backlog, focusing on backend systems-authorization, capture, refund, batch settlement, disbursement, and ledger updates.
• Translate PayFac business requirements into technical Epics that definetransaction logic, fund flow, and clearing/settlement behavior.
• Partner with Engineering and Architecture to designscalable APIs and microservicessupporting merchant onboarding, payment processing, merchant and internal team reporting and monitoring, and sub-merchant settlements.
• Manage integrations withprocessors, acquiring banks, and card networks(e.g., Worldpay, Fiserv, TSYS, Elavon) including certification and compliance tracking.
• Supportmerchant lifecycle operations: KYC/KYB onboarding, underwriting, tokenization, dispute management, and funding.
• Lead coordination acrossACH, card-present, and card-not-presenttransaction flows.
• Overseegateway and acquiring configurations, surcharging and convenience fee logic, and network tokenization.
• Collaborate with Finance onreconciliation, settlement balancing, and chargeback automation.
• Ensure all services maintainPCI DSS and network compliancewhile supporting operational scalability.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical field.
• 3-5+ years as aProduct Owner, Technical Analyst, or Product Managerincard processing, PayFac, or payment gateway environments.
• In-depth understanding offund flows,merchant acquiring, andpayment lifecycle events(auth, capture, refund, clearing, and settlement).
• Familiar with financial messaging standards such asISO8583, ISO20022, NACHA, and REST-based payment APIs.
• Experience managingprocessor integrations,sub-merchant funding models, andchargeback/dispute processes.
• Knowledge oftokenization, 3DS, EMV, and PCI DSSstandards.
• Experience with tools likeJira, Confluence, Splunk, SQL, andAPI documentation platforms.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills-able to bridge business logic with technical execution.
Preferred Experience"
• Prior work withregistered PayFacs or acquiring platforms(Worldpay, Adyen, Stripe, Marqeta, etc.).
• Exposure toledgering, funding orchestration, orbank settlement reconciliation.
• Understanding ofmerchant risk managementandunderwriting workflows.
• Experience withSDK development, token vaults, ornetwork certifications.
