Location: Research Triangle Park, NC (100% Onsite) Employment Type: Long-Term Contract (Potential Extension or Direct Hire) Pay Rate: $26.50/hour | Benefits Available About the Role Our client is seeking a Lab Automation Technician to support high-throughput laboratory operations processing over 300,000 plant samples annually. This position is ideally suited for someone who thrives in a commercial lab environment, enjoys hands-on, repetitive lab work, and is eager to contribute to large-scale sequencing and DNA extraction workflows.
Key Responsibilities
Operate semi-automated platforms to perform high-throughput Next Sequencing (NGS) library prep and DNA extractions.
Follow established protocols to ensure all tasks are completed accurately, on time, and in compliance with QMS guidelines.
Conduct routine sample and reagent preparation, consumable stocking, and daily maintenance tasks.
Register task completion using LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System).
Support sequencing runs for multiple crop species including cotton and soybean.
Communicate progress proactively with team members and supervisors.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology or Genetics (required).
2+ years of relevant laboratory experience.
Experience working in a high throughput testing lab (200K+ samples/year).
Working knowledge of NGS, DNA isolation/extraction, and lab automation platforms.
Experience with LIMS or other lab software systems.
Detail-oriented with strong critical thinking skills.
Proficient in Windows 7, SharePoint, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word & Excel).
Previous experience with plants or agricultural crops , but not required.
