SUMMARY
Reporting to the CFO, the Controller is a critical position on Tri Delta's Finance team, supporting the financial operations of the entire enterprise, including the Fraternity, Tri Delta Housing, and the Foundation. This critical leadership position is responsible for leading the full accounting cycle, strengthening internal controls, and ensuring absolute GAAP and regulatory compliance. The Controller serves as a strategic partner to leadership, transforming financial data into actionable insight for executive decisions, while building and mentoring the accounting team to support Tri Delta's substantial financial scope. Strategic focus areas for the Controller are: Finance & Accounting - oversee the organization's financial health, ensuring integrity of all accounting operations, with a focus on keeping and closing the books and supporting audits. Treasury Management - track daily cash inflows and outflows, manage bank accounts, and ensures sufficient liquidity for operations. Conduct cash forecasting to project short- and long-term cash needs to anticipate surpluses or shortfalls. Manage the organization's line of credit and ensure vendors are paid in a timely manner. People & Culture - coach, mentor and manage the accounting team to ensure individuals are engaged and performing at their best
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Lead the full accounting cycle, including monthly close, general ledger integrity, and preparation of accurate, timely financial statements, budgets, and variance analysis. Oversee billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll reporting, reconciliations, cash flow forecasting, and preparation for audits and tax filings. Safeguard compliance with GAAP and regulatory standards; strengthen internal controls and ensure the Enterprise is audit-ready year-round. Deliver clear, actionable financial dashboards and reporting that highlight risks, trends, and opportunities for leadership. Manage cash and risk exposure, maintaining strong liquidity practices and controls to support financial resilience. Build and elevate the accounting team: supervise, mentor, and develop staff while implementing scalable processes to meet the organization's evolving needs. Partner with the CFO and senior executives to model financial scenarios, support strategic decision-making, and translate numbers into actionable strategy. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting required, combined with 5-7 years of experience as a Controller or similar executive-level role. Proven expertise in nonprofit accounting principles and strong understanding of GAAP and relevant financial regulations. Strong supervisory experience leading and mentoring an accounting team, ensuring accuracy and high-quality standards across all financial operations. Advanced command of accounting ERPs (Sage Intacct experience preferred) for driving financial insight and technology modernization. A demonstrated ability to model and promote Tri Delta's mission and guiding principles.
