We are assisting in the search for a Corporate Controller who will work closely with the CFO to oversee accounting and finance across multiple entities and play a key role in shaping the company's long-term financial strategy. The Opportunity
The Corporate Controller will lead financial operations across six business entities, providing strategic oversight, analytical insight, and hands-on leadership. This role requires a strong foundation in construction accounting, business acumen, and the ability to connect day-to-day financial management with long-term organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
Partner daily with the CFO to understand and manage the financial operations, processes, and controls across all business entities, with a clear 3+ year succession plan toward the CFO role. Oversee project cost control, cash flow management, forecasting, work-in-progress (WIP), and revenue recognition, ensuring accuracy and adherence to industry standards. Provide long-term financial strategizing and performance analysis through advanced data analytics and financial modeling. Ensure compliance with GAAP and other financial regulations; manage internal and external audits, and assist in risk mitigation and contract review. Serve as a strategic partner to ownership and senior leadership, contributing to corporate planning and decision-making. Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting and finance team, promoting collaboration, accountability, and continuous process improvement. Deliver accurate and timely financial presentations and reporting for executive leadership, banks, and external partners. Manage key external relationships including banks, bonding/surety partners, insurance providers, and legal advisors. Oversee accounting operations across entities including: Controller, Payroll Manager (+2 staff), AP Manager (+3 staff), AR Manager (+7 staff), and Purchasing Administrator. Champion operational excellence and technology adoption, leveraging Trimble Viewpoint Spectrum, Info-Link, Power BI, Insight Spreadsheet Server, and Excel to optimize reporting and analysis. Act as a caring steward and catalyst for growth and change, maintaining integrity, curiosity, and a solutions-oriented mindset. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA, CMA, or CCIFP designation strongly preferred. Minimum 10 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including leadership in construction, engineering, or project-based industries. Deep understanding of construction accounting, including percent-complete revenue recognition and WIP management. Proven ability to build and lead high-performing teams and foster cross-functional collaboration. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience using Power BI, Insight Spreadsheet Server, and Excel for analysis and reporting. Excellent communication and presentation skills; trusted advisor to executives and owners. Reporting Structure
Reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer. Works closely with the CFO, President, Executive Vice Presidents, Vice Presidents, and the Controller.
