Job Summary
Under the direction of the Executive Director, plan, direct, and oversee all aspects of the Career Services department to ensure its effective implementation and evaluation. Serve as a liaison between El Paso Community College (EPCC) and higher education institutions, school districts, employers, and internal management. In-person work on campus is an essential function of this position. Essential Functions Provide effective direction, leadership and strategic objectives to a multi-campus department. Assist in development and oversight of the implementation of the four initiatives which include, Job Placement, Coop Program, Career Planning/Exploration and Transfer Services to ensure effective implementation and evaluation.
Collaborate with higher education institution administrators, school district administrators, employers, EPCC faculty, staff and students to promote effective and consistent implementation of Career Services initiatives and efforts.
Assist with organizing and conducting meetings, prepare and present training/information sessions within the El Paso region and to external constituencies to disseminate, implement, and follow-up on Career Services initiatives and programs. Assist in coordinating efforts and activities associated with higher institutions in presentations, interventions, data exchange, and data reports in relation to Job Placement, Transfer Services, Coop Program and Career Planning/Exploration.
Provide personnel management, direction and guidance to staff and faculty including performance evaluation, coaching, personal and professional development.
Oversee and support the development, recommendation, and implementation of short-and long-range strategic operational and instructional plans. Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and policies and procedures. Recommend and implement modifications to programs. Assist in the development and management of program budget.
Ensure compliance with current policies and procedures, administrative rulings and state and national requirements related to Job Placement, Transfer Services, Coop Program and Career Planning/Exploration initiatives.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field and six (6) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
NOTE: A copy of the transcript reflecting this required education MUST be submitted for consideration and reflect coursework and degrees conferred. The candidate must be fully qualified for the position at the time of application.
2. Must have the skill and ability to plan, organize, lead, and control personnel and operations of a large department.
3. Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
4. Working knowledge of grant writing and management.
5. Experience working with public sector organizations, higher education institutions, and other schools.
6. Understanding of instructional and administrative procedures within a university, community college, and high school setting.
7. Must have effective organizational and planning skills with the ability to multitask.
8. Strong presentation skills and public speaking.
9. Must be able to develop and cultivate business relationships.
10. Must have effective use of tact and diplomacy. Special Conditions:
