Project Manager Opportunity

This position will be filled at either the Manager of Projects 4/5 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level. The Associate Laboratory Directorate, Plutonium Infrastructure (ALDPI), at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) manages the execution of major capital projects related to infrastructure required to meet plutonium pit production deliverables. This is an opportunity for an exceptional project professional that will work directly with senior leadership to ensure execution of the Plutonium infrastructure Directorate capital construction project portfolio. The Directorate is at the center of execution of capital projects in and around the Los Alamos National Laboratory's plutonium pit production facilities. Reporting to the Project-Program Director, this position is critically important to the safe and efficient execution of infrastructure projects. $138,500 - $233,200 As the Manager of Projects (MOP) 4, you will provide the capabilities and relevant Laboratory elements to successfully deliver excellence in safe execution of construction projects and assure performance against relevant prime contract elements. You will assist in the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of construction activities (D&D and equipment installation) and management operations and performance. You will actively participate in decision-making processes by evaluating and communicating the impacts of operational decisions and opportunities with respect to construction activities and opportunities for improvement. You will coordinate the planning and execution of day-to-day construction activities, drive projects and execute deliverables with the sense of urgency to meet mission needs. This position will report administratively to a MOP 5, or Program Director in Plutonium Infrastructure. Manager of Projects 5

$166,900 - $289,000 In addition to what was outlined at the lower level, at this level you as the Manager of Projects (MOP) 5 will provide the capabilities and relevant Laboratory elements to successfully deliver excellence in safe execution of construction projects and assure performance against relevant prime contract elements. You will supervise and be responsible in the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of construction activities (D&D and equipment installation) and management operations and performance. You will actively participate in decision-making processes by evaluating and communicating the impacts of operational decisions and opportunities with respect to construction activities and opportunities for improvement. You will coordinate the planning and execution of day-to-day construction activities, drive projects and execute deliverables with the sense of urgency to meet mission needs. This position will report administratively to one of the Project-Program Directors in Plutonium Infrastructure. What You Need Minimum Job Requirements: Technical Leadership

Proven ability to successfully lead and manage (organize, direct, control) a technically oriented project management team in the execution of moderately to exceptionally complex projects, including supervision and development of employees. Strong experience managing construction projects including proactively managing changes in project scope, identifying project risks, and developing successful project execution plans. Technical Excellence

Strong knowledge and demonstrated experience managing nuclear facility and or programmatic project work. Project experience with DOE O 413.3B projects or equivalent system of requirements. In-depth knowledge of/and experience in the engineering, procurement, construction and turnover to operations of programmatic equipment. Strong understanding of financial analysis and planning concepts. Management experience in all project management functions-including formal earned value management system (EVMS)-that includes financial analysis and planning concepts. Collaboration and Coalition Building

Strong experience in developing and nurturing effective internal and external customer relationships. Provide project leadership on issues that require cross-organizational solutions. Ability to promote an open and informal communication environment, to develop mutual trust and teamwork, and to facilitate employee self-development. Personal Leadership

Advanced leadership and management (organize, direct, control) of a technically oriented project management team in the execution of all levels of projects, including supervision and development of employees. Advanced experience managing construction projects including proactively managing project scope, schedule and budget including use of Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS). Technical Excellence

Advanced knowledge and demonstrated experience managing nuclear facility and or programmatic project work. Project experience with DOE O 413.3B projects or equivalent system of requirements. Expert knowledge and expertise in the areas of construction, engineering, procurement and other project-related activities, including their interfaces and inter-dependencies. Strong understanding of financial analysis and planning concepts. Management experience in all project management functions-including formal EVMS. Advanced knowledge of and demonstrated experience in project management of technical or operational work including developing project execution plans, work breakdown structures, and work packages; managing to scope, schedule, budget, and technical baselines; and documenting baseline reports and change control actions. Position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution and 8 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation (if no Bachelor's Degree then a minimum of 16 years of related experience). Education/Experience at Manager of Projects 5 level: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution and 12 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation (if no Bachelor's Degree then a minimum of 20 years of related experience). Desired Qualifications: LANL Operations

Familiarity in nuclear facility operations or other highly complex, hazardous operations, particularly as it pertains to the Los Alamos National Laboratory Mission. Stakeholder relations

Experience working with federal customers, or representatives, at headquarters or field office level in a strategic manner to maximize satisfaction. Experience working on integrated project teams in construction. Certifications

Project Management Institute Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent. Clearance

The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management. Position commitment:

Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
