Based on the North Carolina School Counselor Salary Schedule, commensurate with education and experience. Position Summary:
The School Counselor and College Liaison at the CTE Innovative High School plays a vital role in supporting students' academic, career, and personal growth while ensuring strong alignment between secondary and postsecondary opportunities. This position works closely with Rockingham Community College (RCC) to coordinate Career and College Promise (CCP) and dual enrollment programs, supporting students as they graduate college-, career-, and work-ready with credentials and post secondary certificates that align to high-demand career pathways. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Counselor Responsibilities 1. Program Planning Establishes a comprehensive school counseling program that supports students' academic, personal/social, and career development. Develops and evaluates counseling activities and resources to meet school and district goals. Collaborates with teachers, administrators, and CTE staff to align counseling services with the school's mission and improvement plan. 2. Counseling Provides individual and group counseling sessions to meet developmental, preventive, and remedial needs. Assists students with academic planning, college readiness, credentialing, and postsecondary transitions. Offers support to students experiencing academic, social, or emotional challenges. 3. Consulting Consults with students, parents, teachers, administrators, and community partners to address student needs and barriers to success. Serves as a key liaison between the high school, community college, and district offices to ensure smooth coordination of dual enrollment and Early College programs. Communicates effectively with stakeholders to promote awareness of CTE and postsecondary opportunities. 4. Coordinating Coordinates all counseling and student support services within the school. Assists teachers in implementing the
Guidance Curriculum
and career development activities. Collaborates with CTE, college, and workforce partners to organize college visits, information sessions, and career events. Ensures accurate scheduling, placement, and tracking of students enrolled in dual enrollment or online courses. 5. Student Appraisal Interprets academic records, assessments, and career interest inventories to guide educational and career planning. Assists students, parents, and staff in understanding test results and data-driven placement decisions. Uses assessment data to help students set realistic goals and identify appropriate postsecondary pathways. 6. Professional Practices and Development Adheres to ethical standards of the counseling profession and complies with all state, federal, and district policies. Maintains accurate and timely documentation of counseling activities, schedules, and interventions. Participates in professional learning opportunities to stay current in counseling, CTE, and postsecondary transition practices. Actively engages in professional organizations and development related to counseling, career development, and college readiness. 7. Learning Management System for Online Programs Utilizes the district's
Learning Management System (LMS)
to support online and hybrid learning environments. Attends LMS professional development sessions to maintain proficiency in monitoring and supporting online students. Tracks student progress, communicates with teachers and families, and ensures timely completion of online coursework. Collaborates with district and college partners to resolve issues related to virtual course access or performance. College Liaison Responsibilities Serve as the primary liaison between

Rockingham Community College (RCC) . Coordinate
dual enrollment
and

advising, registration, and scheduling processes. Guide students and parents through course eligibility, academic requirements, and credit transfer options. Monitor student progress in CTE pathways towards attainment of stackable credentials and postsecondary certificates and collaborate with RCC faculty and advisors for academic support. Align
secondary and postsecondary pathways
in collaboration with CTE leadership, RCC, and district partners. Facilitate
information sessions, and parent meetings
to increase awareness of educational and career opportunities. Support
data collection and reporting
related to dual enrollment participation, credential attainment, and pathway completion. Work with district and school teams to promote
work-based learning ,
articulated credit , and
career-aligned coursework . Qualifications: Master's degree in
School Counseling, Student Services, or related field
(required). Current
North Carolina School Counselor license
(required). Experience with
Career and Technical Education (CTE)
programs,
dual enrollment , or
community college partnerships
preferred. Knowledge of
WorkKeys testing ,
career pathways , and
industry-recognized credentials
