Position Summary
The Sterile Compounding Lead ensures the accuracy, safety, and compliance of compounded sterile preparations (CSPs) while mentoring the compounding team. This role supports Empower's mission to provide high-quality, affordable medications through adherence to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
Duties and Responsibilities
Guides and trains the compounding team to ensure accurate preparation of CSPs and adherence to safety and quality standards. Ensures compliance with cGMP, Standard Operating Procedures, and proper aseptic techniques during compounding and equipment use. Monitors workflow and schedules to ensure timely CSP preparation and efficient resource use. Conducts inspections, audits, and documentation of activities to maintain regulatory compliance and quality standards. Stays informed on industry trends and regulations while supporting production schedules and departmental goals. While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to remain in a stationary position for a significant amount of the workday and frequently use their hands and fingers to handle or feel in order to access, input, and retrieve information from the computer and other office productivity devices. The employee is regularly required to move about the office and around the corporate campus. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
Knowledge and Skills
Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work collaboratively in a controlled environment while following detailed instructions. Familiar with Food and Drug Administration and United States Pharmacopeia regulations and capable of performing basic mathematical calculations. Requires a minimum of 1 year of pharmaceutical compounding experience, including vial filling, and technical knowledge of compounding operations. High School Diploma or equivalency required; Bachelor's degree highly preferred. Requires registration with the Texas Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Trainee and Sterile/IV certification accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).
