SUMMARY

Supervises and coordinates the activities of workers concerned with picking product and preparing it for shipping to the customer and bringing material into facility. Dispatches shipments to trucking companies. Reports to Plant Manager

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises shipping and receiving functions and stock pulling functions

Ensures correct shipment of orders to customers

Ensures proper packaging of finished goods

Manages warehousing functions of finished product

Dispatches outbound shipments

Coordinates inbound pickups and unloading

Approves employee work hours and payroll

Approves freight invoices

Manages operation (including maintenance) of forklift fleet

Works with sales to manage truck routes and freight costs

Assigns duties and examines work

Ensures safety of all employees

Provides training to new and existing employees

Approves hours of work and payroll

Maintains good housekeeping of areas assigned

Enforces all rules and regulations

Any other duties required by Plant Manager

SAFETY

Works safely and follows all safety rules and operational procedures.

Wears and maintains all required PPE.

Keeps assigned work area clean at all times.

Understands all safety devices and their operation. Notifies management if safety devices are malfunctioning or missing prior to operation.

Safely operates all lifting devices per manufacturing specifications.

Enforces all safety rules and regulations.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises shipping employees and spends the majority of his/her time on the production floor.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Mechanically Inclined. Problem Solver. Team Oriented.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in business or related area preferred 3+ years in transportation management of steel related products 1-2 years supervisory experience Flat bed loading knowledge Strong written and oral communications Ability to lead others Strong knowledge of shipping, receiving, forklift operations and breakdowns

The military equivalent will be recognized in lieu of education and/or experience.

MATHEMATICAL SKILL

Basic mathematical skills, addition, subtraction, multiplication and converting fractions into decimals. Ability to read a tape measure, micrometer and caliper accurately.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Lifting-Up to 50lbs. Standing-8 or more hours per day Walking-Off and on, 4-6 hours per day Body Positions- Squatting, bending, flexing and extending both arms Grasping-Both hands, up to 8 hours per day Sitting- Occasionally Pushing Effort- Occassionally Pulling- Occassionally Climbing-Occasionally Climb up and down stairs-Occasionally

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Manufacturing facility -- exposed to heat and cold Personal Protective Equipment required at all times Controlled Noise exposure Activity level is high -- continuous movement.
