Safety Manage r is the cornerstone of our zero-incident culture. You will own safety performance across multiple high-complexity construction projects, partnering with project teams, superintendents, and craft personnel to anticipate hazards, enforce standards, and drive measurable safety excellence. This is a field-intensive, hands-on leadership position for a proven safety professional who thrives in dynamic environments and excels at influencing behavior at every level.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Proactive Risk Management:
Lead daily job hazard analyses (JHAs), pre-task planning, and site inspections to identify and mitigate risks before work begins. Program Development & Execution:
Build and deploy project-specific safety plans, including fall protection, crane/rigging, confined space, excavation, and electrical safety protocols. Training & Competency:
Design and deliver high-impact training (classroom and field) on OSHA standards, equipment operation, emergency response, and behavioral safety-tailored to each project's scope and crew. Incident Investigation & Corrective Action:
Conduct thorough root-cause investigations for incidents and near-misses; implement CAPAs and track effectiveness through leading indicators. Regulatory Compliance & Reporting:
Ensure 100% compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and client-specific requirements; prepare and submit all mandated reports, logs, and metrics with precision. PPE & Equipment Oversight:
Administer a rigorous PPE compliance program, including selection, inspection, training, and documentation; maintain crane and rigging certification records. Culture & Engagement:
Champion Modigent's "Safety First, Always" mindset through toolbox talks, safety stand-downs, recognition programs, and continuous improvement initiatives. Data-Driven Leadership:
Analyze safety KPIs (TRIR, DART, near-miss frequency) to identify trends, benchmark performance, and present actionable insights to senior leadership. QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Experience:
6+ years as a Safety Manager on large-scale commercial/industrial construction projects. Education:
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience accepted. Certifications (current & verifiable):
OSHA 500 (Trainer) OSHA 30-Hour Construction First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor
Technical Expertise:
Advanced knowledge of crane operations, rigging plans, and load charts (NCCCO or equivalent preferred) Proficiency in safety management software (e.g., ProCore, Safety Reports, or similar) Expert in OSHA 1910 & 1926, ANSI, NFPA 70E, and state-specific regulations
Skills:
Exceptional communicator-able to train, coach, and hold accountability with craft workers and executives alike Analytical mindset with strong reporting and presentation abilities (Excel, PowerPoint) Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
Physical & Safety-Sensitive:
Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and on active construction sites; subject to random drug screening.
Pay Range:
$75,000 - $90,000 per year
