Composites Technician – Carlsbad CA

About the Company: Our client designs and manufactures advanced RF Absorbing Materials Electrically Conductive Elastomers and Maxair Vent Panels serving the Aerospace Automotive and Defense industries. Their state-of-the-art facility features in-house testing materials research and RF modeling capabilities to deliver high-performance electromagnetic solutions through collaboration with a global network of experts.

The Role: We’re seeking an experienced Composites Technician to join the advanced manufacturing team. In this role you’ll fabricate assemble and repair precision composite components for high-performance applications. This position requires a strong eye for detail technical accuracy and adherence to process controls in support of aerospace and defense production.

Note:

This is an ITAR facility –

U.S. citizenship is required.

Active or inactive security clearance (or the ability to obtain one) is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform prepreg layups per detailed work instructions drawings and specifications.

Prepare molds tooling and surfaces for layup with proper release and cleanliness.

Mix and apply resins hardeners and other materials following strict process parameters.

Set up and operate vacuum bagging equipment ensuring proper sealing and leak detection.

Trim drill and finish composite parts using hand and power tools with precision.

Apply sealing priming and painting with high-quality finishes.

Conduct in-process and final inspections to verify conformance.

Safely operate autoclaves and ovens.

Lead and support technicians to meet production goals and quality standards.

Maintain a clean safe and organized workspace.

Document all work for material traceability and quality control.

Qualifications:

U.S. (required).

High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in composites .

5+ years of hands-on experience with prepregs wet layup or vacuum infusion.

Familiarity with aerospace/defense standards (AS9100 NADCAP) a plus.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and process documentation.

Strong attention to detail and quality focus.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

Experience with composite repair autoclaves and oven curing.

Proficient with precision tools (calipers micrometers gauges).

Experience in regulated manufacturing environments.

Continuous improvement mindset (Six Sigma Green/Black Belt a plus).

Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Self-motivated reliable and capable of working independently.
