Our Blood Institute
is actively seeking qualified candidates for new position in our growing Finance team that will be
responsible for a broad scope of accounting and financial duties.
In the role of Senior Accountant,
you will contribute to the financial management of a mid-sized (>$100M in revenues) mission driven non-profit organization . Some of the routine duties include reconciling general ledger account balances and assisting in month-end and year-end close processes.
A successful senior accountant candidate must have excellent analytical skills, a thorough knowledge of accounting principles, extensive experience with automated ERP (financial systems) and analytical experience of multi-location/cost center financial statements and budgets.
The Senior Accountant will play a key role in maintaining the company's accounting software applications and functions to ensure appropriate stewardship of the community's resources . Candidates must have experience collaborating with a team of financial professionals and a commitment to customer service.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting or Finance required
CPA or CMA preferred
5+ years general ledger accounting experience
Proven experience as a Chief/Senior Accountant, Financial Controller, or Accounting Supervisor
Advanced MS Excel skills, including but not limited to pivot tables and formulas such as VLOOKUP
Strong innovative problem-solving capabilities with the ability to take on a new perspective using existing solutions
Excellent communication (written/oral) and interpersonal skills with the ability to interface comfortably at all levels both internally and externally
Self-starter with the ability to work under pressure independently and as part of a team
Ability to think strategically and act proactively
Excellent time and self-management skills, able to prioritize and multitask to meet deadlines
Accuracy and attention to detail
Excellent quantitative, analytic, and deductive reasoning capabilities
Primary Responsibilities:
Preparing and posting journal vouchers relating to various general ledger accounts
Identifying, recording, and posting monthly, quarterly, and year-end accrual entries
Maintaining fixed asset ledgers, depreciation calculations, and history
Tracking prepaid expenses and prepaid insurances
Preparing monthly account reconciliation reports of various balance sheet accounts & income statement accounts as assigned by controller/management
Preparing supplemental management reports when requested by management
Overseeing and maintaining the functionality of the accounting software applications by developing new reports through the use of Pivot Tables or VLookup and troubleshooting software problems when they arise
Supporting the implementing of process improvement initiative in the accounting department
Activities relating to year-end financial audit including preparation of audit work papers and financial reports for examination by outside auditors
Support month-end and year-end close process and documenting critical processes
Providing accounting/financial support to other departments and special projects when needed
Completing historical financial and budget analysis
