Responsibilities:

Lead Epic EHR System Development and Support:

Play a key role in the development, support, and rollout of the Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. Optimize Workflows and Configure Applications:

Optimize workflow processes by configuring and customizing Epic applications to meet the organization's specific needs. Implement and Support Epic Across the System:

Collaborate with clinical and operational teams to support the implementation and ongoing use of Epic, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Act as a Team Resource and Mentor:

Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience. Participate in the SDLC:

Participate in all phases of the system development life cycle, including gathering requirements, developing use cases, and evaluating software solutions. Translate Needs into Action:

Understand foundational workflows and effectively translate operational requests into actionable system changes. Develop and Configure Systems:

Develop, configure, and modify moderately complex information systems to support clinical and operational needs. Maintain Documentation:

Create and maintain documentation of business requirements, workflows (current and future state), and system configurations. Design, Code, Test, and Maintain Applications:

Design, configure, test, and maintain application programs. Coordinate Testing:

Coordinate all testing phases of Epic applications during implementations, upgrades, and optimizations. Provide Application Support:

Support existing application functionality and expand support to additional areas as needed. Build Relationships:

Develop strong working relationships with end users, business partners, and Epic project teams to ensure optimal system usage. Ensure System Standards:

Utilize Epic best practices to ensure system build meets organizational standards and workflows. Train and Support End Users:

Provide hands-on training and support to end users and serve as a key onsite Epic resource during system implementations and ongoing support activities. Lead Team Activities:

Lead and facilitate team activities related to IT and clinical/business systems. Provide Tier-2 Support:

Provide second-level support for incidents and requests related to the Epic application. Manage Releases and Implementations:

Serve as project lead for Epic software releases and new application implementations, and lead/monitor application testing and validation during these activities. Participate in On-Call Support:

Participate in on-call support as needed for system troubleshooting and issue resolution. Contribute to Governance:

Provide input into policies, procedures, training materials, and best practices related to Epic usage and system optimization. Collaborate on Training:

Collaborate with facility core team members to deliver hands-on training as needed. Engage Stakeholders:

Build and maintain strong relationships with end users and facility leadership (physicians, nurses, revenue cycle, health information management, etc.). Requirements:

Experience:

5-7 years of relevant

Information Systems (IS) , clinical experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Epic Certification:

Certification in one or more Epic modules

(e.g., EpicCare ASAP) is highly desirable. For internal candidates, obtaining necessary certification(s) is an essential part of the onboarding and transition process, with full support provided. Education:

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of experience is required. Candidate Background Requirements:

For IS Candidates:

Experience in

systems integration, data management, healthcare IT, and workflow automation . Knowledge of system architecture, database design, and project management in a healthcare setting is essential. Experience should include working with EHR systems, system optimization, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring seamless interoperability. Ability to analyze and configure complex systems to meet user needs is critical.

For Clinical Candidates:

Hands-on clinical experience

(e.g., nursing, pharmacy, or allied health professions) with a deep understanding of

clinical workflows and patient care processes . Experience utilizing EHR systems in a clinical setting, with an understanding of documentation, compliance, and patient safety protocols. Ability to bridge the gap between technical solutions and real-world clinical applications, ensuring technology supports and enhances patient care.

For Both IS and Clinical Candidates:

Strong

problem-solving skills

and the ability to translate user needs into system functionality. A collaborative mindset to work across interdisciplinary teams. Experience with process mapping, workflow redesign, and data analysis is valuable. Demonstrate an understanding of how to support clinical or operational improvements through technology.

Proven experience in healthcare operations, including a solid understanding of the day-to-day functions of clinical, administrative, or IT departments. Must demonstrate experience working where technology and operations intersect to manage workflows, optimize system usage, or support operational efficiencies. Capable of working autonomously to solve problems, while also being an active contributor in cross-functional teams. Able to lead discussions, build consensus, and foster teamwork in interdisciplinary settings. Problem-Solving and Solution Translation:

Skilled at diagnosing and resolving complex technical and workflow-related issues. Adept at interpreting clinical or business needs and translating them into efficient and practical system solutions. Comprehensive Understanding of Healthcare Business Processes and Technology:

Deep understanding of healthcare operations, with the ability to connect healthcare business needs with technology. Knowledge of healthcare workflows, including patient care processes, regulatory compliance, and data integrity, to optimize system performance. Knowledge of Healthcare IT Solutions and Interfacing:

For IS candidates: Proficiency with IT solutions, data integration, and interfacing between systems. For clinical candidates: Familiarity with EHR systems and technology used in care delivery, with an emphasis on improving the user experience and patient outcomes.
