Job Function:
Financial Reporting and Analysis The incumbent plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity of the University's financial records and ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and other governing regulations, including GAAP and GASB standards. Assists in the preparation of the University's annual Financial Statements, Notes to the Financial Statements, Management Discussion and Analysis (MD&A), and Required Supplementary Information (RSI) submitted for state audit and certification. Prepares annual, quarterly, and ad-hoc financial reports for the University, the UNF Financing Corporation, and other entities requiring periodic reporting. Supports rating agency reporting and collaborates with UNF administration on long-term debt reporting. Oversees accounting and reporting for long-term debt, capital and operating leases, and installment loans. Monitors and reconciles intercompany transactions. Monitors and reconciles other activities as needed. Accounting Operations and Compliance
Ensures University accounting records are maintained in compliance with Federal, State, and University regulations and in accordance with GAAP and GASB standards. Leads the implementation of new GASB standards in collaboration with University stakeholders, including ITS, Budget Office, and other campus units. Serves as a key resource for campus departments on diverse accounting and reporting issues. Processes various accounting entries related to state funds and reviews and approves journal transfers. Oversees the maintenance of the Ledger Code and collaborates with Financial Systems and the Budget Office on the Chart of Accounts. Systems, Reporting, and Process Improvement
Collaborates with the Budget Office and Institutional Research on reporting needs and data coordination. Assists the Controller's Office with Workday reporting and supports Workday upgrade reviews and testing. Contributes to the design, implementation, and enhancement of accounting systems, procedures, and internal controls. Leadership and Supervision
Trains, supervises, and serves as the backup for two General Accounting staff members and a student assistant (OPS, FWS, or intern). Provides leadership support to the Associate/Assistant Controller, including performing duties during period close activities. Represents the Controller's Office on University committees and accreditation reporting. Other Responsibilities
Assists in achieving the objectives and goals of the Controller's Office and the General Accounting area. Supports special projects as assigned by the Associate/Assistant Controller or Controller. Performs other duties as assigned.
Marginal Functions:
Responds to University community's requests for assistance with problems and questions related to accounting.
Supervision Exercised:
Senior Accountant/Accountant and students/OPS employees.
Supervision Received:
As indicated by the professional level of this position, it is anticipated that little daily supervision is required and oral guidance with the Assistant/Associate Controller would be sufficient. The incumbent is expected to communicate with the supervisor and to make known immediately the occurrence of any serious problems or to note any areas where assistance may be needed.
Level of Public Contact:
Daily contact with staff and administrators and serves as the departments representative on various Universities committees as it relates to the area of responsibility. This position serves as the contact with various external Auditors and also interacts with other employees within the SUS.
Monetary Responsibility:
This position is responsible for leading the preparation of the financial statement of the University and monitoring the general ledger of the University.
Policy-making and/or Interpretation:
Responsible for interpreting and communicating fiscal policies of Federal Government, State of Florida, BOG,UBOT, GASB, and the University to constituencies including Deans, Directors, Department heads and other University personnel. Assist in the development of policies as they relate to fiscal and accounting matters within the Controller's office. Responsible for execution of policies and procedures including but not limited to financial and cost accounting issues. The incumbent also advises Deans, Directors, and Departmental chairpersons in carrying out their responsibilities related to fiscal matters.
Program Direction and Development:
This position will also assist in implementing/testing of new ERP modules related to the General ledger and the Payroll subsidiary ledger. The Senior Accounting Coordinator will provide General Accounting services to all programs campus wide, including faculty, staff, administration, and students as well as service to outside constituents.

Controller's office functions involve the administration of "public funds" and these are all pubic record items. The management of confidential data such as personnel and student records are also a responsibility of this position. Disclosure of these items would be a violation of Federal and State law and would cause the institution great public embarrassment.
Required Qualifications Master's and 2+ years of relevant experience or Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219.
