Overview GovCIO is seeking a talented GIS Mapping Software Developer to join our team and contribute to innovative projects for the USPS. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with cutting-edge GIS technology and make a significant impact in the government sector. Responsibilities Utilize GIS software and platforms to create and manage web mapping applications and spatial data efficiently.

Translate business requirements into effective geospatial software designs that align with organizational goals.

Design and implement user-friendly mapping applications, including spatial analysis features.

Develop interactive web maps utilizing advanced web mapping technologies.

Manipulate and handle geospatial data to support project needs.

Work with leading GIS software such as ArcGIS and leverage cloud-based platforms for mapping tasks.

Automate geospatial analysis processes and customize GIS software to meet project specifications.

Collaborate closely with stakeholders and team members to ensure database design meets project requirements.

Qualifications Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of GIS development experience or equivalent experience in related fields.

5+ years of experience designing large-scale IT solutions in major organizations, showcasing strong leadership and teamwork abilities.

Proficiency in ESRI ArcGIS software for geospatial applications.

In-depth understanding of geospatial data formats, projections, and cartography principles.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication skills to engage with colleagues, stakeholders, and non-technical users.

Proficiency in programming languages including Python, Java, JavaScript, and C#.

Experience with GIS platforms like ArcGIS and QGIS, and knowledge of web mapping technologies.

Familiarity with spatial databases and cloud computing services.

Expertise in API integration for mapping functionalities using frameworks such as ESRI Map APIs, Leaflet, and OpenLayers.

Competence in front-end development technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, along with frameworks like React or Angular.

Experience with version control tools like Git for collaborative development.

Preferred Qualifications 2+ years of experience with GIS principles and spatial data concepts.

A degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science, IT, Management Information Systems, or a related field is preferred; otherwise, an additional 4 years of relevant experience is needed.

Familiarity with Agile methodologies and SDLC practices.

Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and secure coding principles.

Experience with cloud architecture and design.

Understanding of business process re-engineering principles.

Proficiency in change management tools.

Experience in Application Lifecycle Management (ALM).

Clearance Required: Ability to acquire and maintain a USPS Public Trust clearance.
