The New Hampshire Veterans Home has a full-time, 1st shift vacancy for a Maintenance Mechanic II.
Proposed schedule includes:
7:00am - 3:30pm shifts
Varying weekends (additional $2.00/hour)
Varying holidays

Summary:
To perform skilled maintenance, installation and repair work on state buildings, equipment and grounds and to maintain the operating condition of machinery and equipment at the New Hampshire Veterans Home (NHVH).
YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS
Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
Equivalent combination of 2 years of education and experience after completion of high school. Education and experience must be in general maintenance and repair work associated with one or more of the following areas: carpentry, electricity, painting, plumbing, masonry, sheet metal work, welding, auto repair or related trade experience.
License/Certification:
Valid driver's license
Other Requirements:
Must be willing and able to work holidays, weekends and varying shifts.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Ability to use personal computer and related software applications.
Responsibilities:
Performs preventive maintenance and maintains NHVH equipment, including beds, lifts, tubs, air handlers, compressors, circulator pumps, DDC control systems and other equipment used by and/or for residents and staff.
Performs skilled work in carpentry, masonry, electricity, painting and/or plumbing in maintenance and repair state buildings, grounds and/or equipment.
Cleans, oils, greases, maintains and adjusts equipment, tools and machinery, as required to ensure consistent and safe operating condition.
May fabricate, weld, and/or braze parts for special equipment and replacement parts.
Exercises partial supervision over employees doing related maintenance work, including scheduling assignments and reviewing work for accuracy.
Performs snow removal duties to include, shoveling, plowing, salting, sanding, snow blowing, and snow removal from roofs.
