This individual will implement the Buncombe County Schools' Gifted Services Plan in a school setting. The AIG specialist will promote best practices for differentiation in the regular classroom, support the academic and social-emotional needs of gifted learners, teach extension and enrichment based lessons, advocate for advanced learner extra-curricular opportunities, maintain official documentation of AIG services provided, and facilitate AIG identification processes. Pay Range : State Teacher & Salary + [8.5% - 16% local supplement]
Please note:
Educators who complete a Master's degree must have completed at least one course prior to August 1, 2013 or be in a position that requires a Master's Degree in order to be paid at Master's Level. THIS POSITION WILL BE PAID AT SUBSTITUTE PAY RATE until the Teacher on leave is no longer in a paid status.
Minimum Degree Level : Bachelor's Degree (click here for more info about Master's pay); NC AIG Licensure (88087) expected. Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with at least three years of successful teaching experience NC AIG licensure (88087) or extensive experience in work with advanced learners (AIG licensure expected to be achieved within two years) 18 semester hours of relevant coursework 2.7 GPA (undergraduate coursework or post-graduate coursework) Ability to produce an official, degree dated transcript from an accredited university Former Lateral Entry license candidates are eligible to apply Email our licensure specialist, shonda.haynes@bcsemail.org, if you have licensure questions.
