Position Overview
A well-established company in the intermodal industry is seeking an
Accounts Payable Specialist
to join their team in Charleston, SC. The AP Specialist should bring strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills, along with advanced Excel proficiency and a proven ability to manage vendor relationships. This position reports directly to the Accounts Payable Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities Input and code vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner Review invoices for proper documentation and approval before entry and payment processing Prepare, print, and distribute vendor checks as needed Serve as a liaison between the corporate office and site location managers/directors Respond to vendor inquiries promptly and professionally Support the Accounting Department with credit applications and onboarding new vendors (including W-9s and banking information) Maintain accounts payable reports, spreadsheets, and corporate AP files Confirm vendor banking information as applicable Assist with month-end closings Prepare account analysis as needed Process and document payments across multiple platforms (including credit card and online payments) Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned Desired Skills & Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of experience in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, or related accounting role Advanced Excel skills required Experience with Sage, IFS, or QuickBooks Online is a plus Strong communication skills (verbal and written) Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills Demonstrated ability to go above and beyond expectations Flexible and motivated mindset, particularly during system transitions (ERP implementation experience is a plus) Education / Experience Requirements
Accounting degree (completed or in progress) preferred OR a minimum of 3 years' relevant AP/AR/accounting experience
