Job Summary

The Risk and Quality Manager oversees risk management and quality improvement efforts to ensure safe, compliant, and effective operations within the crisis center. This role leads incident review, regulatory compliance, and performance monitoring to support high-quality client care. ​ ​ This is a 24/7 facility with shifts available across all hours. Compensation is based on experience.

Essential Functions

Conducts risk assessments to identify and mitigate clinical, operational, and legal risks.

Develops and maintains crisis response and emergency preparedness plans.

Oversees incident reporting systems and leads root cause analyses (RCAs).

Ensures compliance with federal, state, and accrediting agency regulations (e.g., HIPAA, OSHA, Joint Commission).

Monitors and manages risk events, adverse outcomes, and client complaints.

Facilitates regular internal audits, peer reviews, and compliance checks.

Leads accreditation readiness and quality surveys (e.g., Joint Commission, CARF).

Collaborates with departments to promote a culture of continuous improvement and safety.

Collects and analyzes data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.

Develops dashboards and reports for leadership, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders.

Prepares quality and risk reports for Board of Directors and quality committees.

Uses outcome data to guide program evaluation and strategic planning.

Applies knowledge of crisis intervention, trauma-informed care, and behavioral health standards.

Ensures quality and accuracy in clinical documentation and client records.

Collaborates with clinical teams to align quality goals with best practices in behavioral healthcare.

Develops and delivers training programs on risk management, quality standards, and compliance.

Educates staff on incident reporting, client safety, and regulatory requirements.

Supports onboarding and continuing education related to quality and safety procedures.

Serves as a key advisor on risk and quality issues to senior leadership.

Leads multidisciplinary teams in performance improvement projects.

Develops and updates policies and procedures related to risk, quality, and safety.

Promotes a just culture that encourages reporting and continuous learning.

Utilizes EHR systems for monitoring clinical quality and documentation.

Implements systems to improve data collection, tracking, and analysis.

Job Requirements and Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in a human service field or healthcare

Training Requirements (licenses, programs, or certificates):

BLS

Recipient Right’s

Experience Requirements:

Experience in Quality and/or Risk Management, including primary responsibility for performance improvement activities, regulatory compliance, conflict resolution, leadership, and risk management activities

Experience:

Experience in working with electronic health records

Experience in risk management

Experience with data entry

Experience in crisis de-escalation

Experience working with adults with severe mental illness, substance use disorder or intellectual/developmental disabilities

Experience working with children with serious emotional disturbance

Experience in quality management

(Travel required, physical requirements, on-call schedules, etc.):

Must be available for meetings and events which may occur outside of standard office hours.

Work performed primarily in a crisis center environment.
