Position: Transportation Specialist, Permanent Support Staff

Compensation : Starting Salary: $32.48 per hour
Essential Duties & Responsibilities : Communicate with parents and staff regarding transportation issues in a productive manner Effectively utilize District's routing software to create safe and efficient routes in line with overall District objectives Prepare transportation schedules for all district students, ensuring accuracy and compliance with District policies Communicate schedules to vendors, schools, staff, and parents in an effective and professional fashion Review daily vendor coverage plans for accuracy and adequate coverage, assisting, and challenging where necessary Monitor day to day vendor performance of routes using available tools such as GPS, radio transmissions from vendor dispatch or vendor bus drivers, and intervening when necessary Reconcile bills from vendors who provide transportation on a regular basis for Board approval and payment. Processes day to day transportation changes and requests in line with District objectives Works closely with Special Services Supervisors to create safe and appropriate transportation plans for special needs student population. Maintain and provides information to complete all state report information such as mileage reports and able to enter information into the PDE web portal Must be able to assist finding coverage for absent District Van drivers or monitors Must be able to work additional hours when required to complete time critical tasks Assist scheduling maintenance and oversight of District van repairs Reconcile vendor invoices from existing Department vendors on a regular basis for Board approval and payment as well as work with Business Office to onboard new vendors. Assist in fully resolving all complaints pertaining to Department functions including but not limited to making phone calls and responding to emails from parents, administrators, District staff, and non-public school staff. Provide private schools with beginning of year packets, and data collecting of early dismissals, non-school days. Maintain private school calendar. Provide Special Services monthly attendance logs provided by staff. Schedule sports trips, field trips, and activity buses using District software. Maintain Field Trip closure date calendar Clerical duties as needed including but not limited to, maintaining driver files, generating requisitions to pay vendors, replenishing o?ce supplies, processing private school data, etc. Requirements:
Strong problem-solving skills including ability to apply District policies, routing guidelines, and logic to independently resolve unique challenges. Excellent customer service skills and ability to work in a team environment while still delivering independent individual results. Solid time management and capability to prioritize tasks while still managing high volumes of phone calls and e-mails in a timely, efficient and professional manner. Must be highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite: specifically OneNote, Excel, Word, & Outlook. Google Suite: specifically, Docs, Sheets, Forms, and Google and able to become an expert user in the District's routing system. REQUIRED PAPERWORK: In order to begin employment in any PA public school, all employees are required to complete mandatory paperwork. Background employment clearances must be completed within the last year to be valid and include:
