The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office (LCSO) is seeking a professional, dedicated individual to serve as a full-time Victim Advocate in the Criminal Investigations Division, Victim Advocate Unit at the LCSO Headquarters in Leesburg, Virginia Job Summary
Under the general direction of the designated manager, provides case management services to crime victims and survivors and assists with identified concerns resulting from victimization; leverages familiarity with law enforcement and/or the criminal justice system to provide expertise and specialized knowledge in victim advocacy and support, allowing sworn positions to prioritize investigative services.
Duties include: • Provides case management support services to crime victims and survivors, and assists with identified concerns resulting from victimization • Determines and coordinates the types of referrals and services appropriate for victims and survivors. • Utilizes a trauma-informed approach to crime victims, survivors, and co-victims. Communicates the basics of court proceedings to crime victims and survivors. • Supports victims by engaging in early access to services prior to involvement in the court system and coordinates referrals for long term services. • Serves as a liaison with criminal justice professionals, advocacy groups, clinical and other service providers, and community outreach services, in order to address the rights of crime victims and survivors. • Records case file information and appropriate documentation in identified system. • Collaborates with sworn staff and the Criminal Investigation Division on strategic planning and initiatives regarding victim services and victim safety • Conducts outreach to victims of misdemeanor and felony crimes. • Provides referrals to community resources. • Provides investigative support and case preparation assistance to unit detectives. • Completes special projects relating to victim advocacy. • Attends court hearings to provide support as requested by victims and families • Works closely with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.
Hiring salary will be commensurate with experience.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in social or behavioral sciences, criminal justice administration, or related field; two (2) years' experience in social services or criminal justice work; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Fluency in Spanish (oral and written) strongly preferred.

Selection process includes review of the Applicant Screening Questionnaire and County employment application, in-person interview(s), and an intensive background investigation to include fingerprinting, credit check, driving record, and polygraph examination.
