The Athletics and Recreation Department at LaGuardia Community College aims to educate and develop student athletes and participants by providing opportunities to participate in competitive intercollegiate athletics or intramural/recreational sport programs. The department is committed to supporting student athletes in academics and athletics while upholding institutional control and the principles of sportsmanship, integrity, amateurism, compliance and diversity within NJCAA guidelines. Responsibilities
Assist with the recruitment, training, scheduling, certification, and performance of student employees of the facility; supervise the day-to-day activities of the lifeguard staff. Develop lifeguard deck rotational system for monitoring the pool and all pool deck operations. Perform regular safety inspections of pool and equipment. Assist with the development and implementation of aquatic programs for students, faculty, staff and/or members of the public. Assist the Student Athletics Program Director in ensuring compliance with all local, state and national requirements and that appropriate water, environmental, health and safety standards are maintained; monitor necessary certifications for pool operations. Maintain pool logs including chemistry, climate control, cleanliness, and related maintenance per Department of Health regulations. Maintain and assist with external rental schedules and lifeguard staffing with public safety and custodial staff; Coordinate with engineers for scheduling of pool maintenance; Develop and maintain records of operation facility usage; monitor and maintain inventories of pool equipment and supplies; Participate in the development of annual operating budgets and provide fiscal coordination for the unit. Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and four years' related experience required. CUNY Title Overview
