About the Role
We are seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer with direct experience in nuclear power plant design and modification. This position will play a key role in overseeing engineering design work, verifying calculations, and serving as the Responsible Engineer (RE) within a highly regulated nuclear environment.
You’ll collaborate with A/E firms, utility departments, and client stakeholders to ensure compliance, quality, and accuracy in design modification packages. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys a combination of technical oversight, design verification, and configuration management —all in a fully remote setting.
Key Responsibilities
Provide oversight of A/E design work, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and quality of engineering deliverables. Perform as the Responsible Engineer following the client’s SDP modification process. Review, verify, and approve technical calculations, specifications, and design packages. Conduct independent design verifications in accordance with NQA-1 standards. Prepare and/or verify select in-house calculations and analyses. Ensure all engineering work complies with nuclear plant procedures, configuration control, and QA requirements.
Qualifications Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET/EAC-accredited program. Strong understanding of nuclear plant systems, utility departments, and configuration management. Demonstrated experience preparing and verifying engineering calculations. Familiarity with design verification and QA procedures (NQA-1). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Preferred:
Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE) license in one or more U.S. states. Experience with Configuration Management Interface System Design Process (CMISDP). Proficiency with STAAD, RISA, RAM, and AutoCAD. Familiarity with AISC Steel Construction Manual (9th Edition).
