Insight Global
Job Description
We are seeking a highly experienced and adaptable Product Owner to support a dynamic team of UX Designers, Product Designers, Copywriters, and UX Researchers in delivering exceptional digital banking experiences. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong execution skills, capable of managing multiple product streams and navigating complex stakeholder environments. You will be responsible for owning, prioritizing and managing product backlogs across a few concurrent digital products, including:
2 web banking platforms (Personal & Business)
2 mobile banking apps (Personal & Business)
The company's public-facing website and regulatory initiatives (e.g., regulatory compliance, marketing content, cookie consent, CCPA “Do Not Sell” features, etc.)
NEW Project(s) for the company's Entertainment clients (i.e. these are considered client-facing apps)
You will also collaborate closely with Product Design and UX teams (7 Designers, 2 Copywriters, 2 UX Researchers) to refine features, identify gaps, and ensure alignment across all touchpoints. You will serve as the primary intake POC for product requests, managing a few active queues and negotiating scope and timelines with stakeholders. In addition, you will facilitate daily stand-ups, identify blockers, and ensure requirements are complete and actionable, work in lockstep with Product Managers to review upcoming work, prioritize features, and define scope for future initiatives. You will be responsible for driving requirement gathering by proactively engaging with technical partners and stakeholders to resolve open questions, lead the backlog refinement sessions and ensure stories are well-defined, estimated, and ready for development.
Additional Responsibilities
Define and prioritize design backlog: Own the design-related backlog, including features, epics, user stories, and design debt. Prioritize items based on user value, business objectives, and technical feasibility, working closely with the Product Manager and tech leads.
Translate vision into requirements: Collaborate with UX researchers and UI/UX designers to translate customer needs and high-level product strategy into clear, detailed, and actionable design requirements for the development team.
Manage the design system: For companies with a dedicated design system, you will own the product roadmap for that system. This includes ensuring its components and guidelines effectively serve design and development teams and support a consistent user experience.
Provide a single source of truth: Act as the ultimate decision-maker on design requirements, ensuring the development team has a single, clear point of contact for questions about product design.
Guide the design process: Facilitate collaboration between designers and the development team. Guide story creation, help break down complex design features, and use techniques like Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) to ensure clear acceptance criteria.
Participate in Agile events: Actively engage in sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and team retrospectives, providing the design perspective and accepting completed design-related stories.
Analyze and iterate: Use customer feedback, user interviews, and data analytics to test design assumptions and continuously evolve the product's design. Share these insights with the wider team.
Skills and Requirements
5+ years of experience as a Product Owner, supporting Product Design and UX teams
Experience working in Agile environments, specifically within the SAFe methodology
Knowledge of the digital product lifecycle and the process and workflows of it
Experience managing a team backlog and have exceptional ability to prioritize and manage multiple workstreams (priorities from backlog will come the Product Managers)
Must be adaptable
Ability to synthesize feedback from multiple sources and drive consensus
Proficiency in Jira and Confluence
Comfortable working in fast-paced, high-volume environments
Excellent communication and diplomatic negotiation skills
Banking/Financial Services experience (digital) is highly preferred
