This role is part of Alcon's Engineering function, a team focused on improving quality, processes, products, packaging and materials across our business to help deliver brilliant outcomes.
Facilities Engineering - Electrician
is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical infrastructure supporting manufacturing, R&D, data centers, and commercial operations. This role plays a key part in maintaining business continuity, safety compliance, and energy efficiency. The electrician will work closely with internal teams and external contractors to deliver high-quality service and support for all electrical systems.
In this role, a typical day will include:
Perform routine and emergency maintenance on electrical systems including:
Lighting; 138kv substation
Medium voltage distribution systems
Uninterruptible Power Supply (flywheel and battery) and diesel generator emergency backup power systems
Control systems
Troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
Conduct inspections and testing to ensure compliance with electrical codes and safety standards.
Support installation and commissioning of new electrical equipment and systems.
Maintain accurate records of work performed, inspections, and system performance.
Ensure all work is performed in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Ensure all work is performed in accordance with established standards and procedures (e.g., GMP and SOPs)
Participate in safety audits and contribute to continuous improvement of electrical safety programs.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and best practices.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:
High School Diploma or equivalent
The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
4 Years of Relevant Experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
State Electrical Journeyman or Master Electrician License
Technical certification in electrical systems
Experience working in electrical maintenance and repair in industrial or commercial facilities
Strong knowledge of electrical codes and safety regulations
Experience working with multiple vendors and contractors
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills li>
Familiarity with digital tools (e.g., Work Order Systems, Facility Management Tools)
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints
Experience with electrical testing equipment and diagnostic tools
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to foster a culture of safety and collaboration
Clear and professional communication
Strong customer focus and demonstrated customer service skills
Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams
