The Electrical Controls Engineer is responsible for the design, development, testing, and implementation of electrical control systems, equipment, and machinery. The role involves building, wiring, programming, and testing simple and complex control systems using relay logic, HMIs/PLCs, programmable relays, VFDs, and a variety of digital and mechanical process switching and instrumentation technologies. Systems may include components from IDEC, Allen-Bradley, IFM, Schneider Electric, Eaton, and IMO.

Responsibilities
Design and develop electrical control systems tailored to project specifications.
Build, wire, program, and test control panels and systems.
Utilize a range of technologies including relay logic, PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and instrumentation.
Support standard and custom work order processing by translating customer specifications into internal manufacturing requirements.
Collaborate cross‑functionally with engineering, sales, vendors, project managers, contractors, field representatives, and customers to ensure successful implementation, training, and troubleshooting of electrical designs.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's in Engineering or Associate's with 2 years of related experience.
Experience with VFDs (Eaton, IMO, Franklin, Turk, etc.).
Electrical design experience.
Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical or SolidWorks.
Ability to read work orders, manuals, specs, wiring diagrams, schematics, and engineering drawings.
Experience with PLC editing, troubleshooting, and programming (e.g., Allen‑Bradley, IO‑Link).
Electromechanical engineering expertise.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
If no degree, a minimum of 8 years of experience within industrial electrical controls.
Experience with selecting electrical components.
PLC programming skills.
Work Environment Approximately 60% of the time at a desk and 40% on the shop floor, working hands‑on with equipment. Dedicated workspace and laptop provided. Typical production setting focused on industrial pumps. Monday‑through‑Friday schedule with flexible start times at 5, 6, or 7 am. During the 9‑month contract, access to Udemy after 6 months, 2 weeks of PTO, and 6 standard holidays.
Job Type & Location Contract to Hire position based out of Benton Harbor, Michigan (fully onsite).
Pay And Benefits Pay range: $29.00 – $40.00 per hour.
