Job Description We are seeking an Entry Level Controls or Electrical Engineer to join a local manufacturing company in the Racine, WI area for a direct hire.
Pay: $65,000 - 80,000 plus 15% bonus
Description The electrical engineer is responsible for designing electrical control systems, generating detailed schematics, selecting components, and supporting the fabrication and commissioning of water treatment skids and related equipment. This position works closely with cross-functional teams including sales, mechanical engineering, procurement, scheduling, and production to deliver high-quality, reliable systems to our clients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Design and develop electrical control systems for water treatment equipment, including control panels, motor control centers (MCCs), and field instrumentation.
Create detailed wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and BOMs using AutoCAD or similar design software.
Specify and select electrical components such as PLCs, VFDs, relays, circuit breakers, sensors, and power supplies.
Program and configure PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and other control devices (e.g., Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, etc.).
Ensure designs comply with project specifications, internal quality requirements, and any applicable standards (UL508A, NEC, NFPA 70E, CE, etc.).
Provide technical support during system fabrication and wiring.
Collaborate with and support the test team to perform functional testing and verification of system operation and develop test fixtures as needed.
Develop control system narratives and other technical documents such as data maps and sequence of operations for installation and operation manuals.
Assist customers and end users with troubleshooting and diagnosing electrical/control issues during installation, start up, and commissioning.
Participate in internal design reviews, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related discipline required.
3+ years of experience in electrical design and controls engineering of industrial control systems, or other relevant experience.
Skills
Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar CAD tools.
Working knowledge of PLC programming, HMI configuration, and industrial networking protocols.
Familiarity with motor control systems, VFDs, instrumentation, and panel design.
Strong understanding of control panel wiring practices and regulatory standards.
Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
Experience in water/wastewater treatment or related process industries.
UL508A Manufacturer Technical Representative Certification is a plus.
