BESS Estimator (Battery Energy Storage System)
The BESS Estimator will assist in the preparation of cost estimates for battery energy storage system (BESS) projects within a utility-scale solar EPC environment. This role supports preconstruction, engineering, and project teams by gathering data, performing takeoffs, maintaining cost databases, and assisting in the preparation of bid packages. The position provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in renewable energy cost estimating and preconstruction processes. Key Responsibilities: Assist in developing cost estimates for BESS and solar + storage projects. Review drawings, specifications, and scope documents to understand project requirements. Perform quantity takeoffs for civil, electrical, and structural scopes using design drawings and models. Gather and organize vendor and subcontractor quotes for materials and services. Update and maintain cost databases and historical pricing records. Support the creation of bid summaries, comparisons, and cost breakdowns. Assist with data entry and estimate reviews to ensure accuracy and consistency. Participate in internal coordination meetings with engineering, procurement, and construction teams. Research material costs, market trends, and emerging technologies related to battery energy storage. Prepare and organize estimate documentation, reports, and supporting data for management review. Qualifications / Experience: Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent practical experience). 1-3 years of experience in renewable energy (solar) estimating. Understanding of renewable energy systems Knowledge of self-perform activities for civil, mechanical & electrical scopes of solar construction. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with estimating software; B2W experience preferred. Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
