Overview
Engineer, Civil Engineering Design – Port Authority of New York & New Jersey. Join a diverse and innovative transportation design team that supports engineering and design for airports, ports, ferries, tunnels, bridges, rail systems, and bus terminals. This is a full‑time position with an expectation of in‑office presence at least four days per week.
Role As a Civil Engineer you will deliver engineering design services for projects ranging from routine to moderately complex, focusing on areas such as highway and roadway design, site development, hydraulic modeling, stormwater management, utility design, airport infrastructure, and passenger and freight rail design.
Responsibilities
Produce quality design services conforming to applicable design standards, guidelines and codes.
Prepare contract documents including drawings, technical specifications and construction cost estimates.
Produce biddable and constructible contract drawings in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Perform site inspections at Agency facilities.
Audit consultative engineering studies, designs and contract documents for construction projects.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET‑accredited institution.
Minimum of four (4) years of professional engineering experience in civil infrastructure design (airfields, stormwater, sanitary sewers, water distribution, roadway, pavements, or trackwork).
Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Desired Qualifications
EIT certification or on‑path to obtaining a PE license.
Working knowledge of FAA circulars, AASHTO, and AREMA guidelines.
Demonstrated problem‑solving, negotiation and conflict‑resolution skills.
Experience leading, managing and prioritizing multiple assignments across disciplines.
Excellent organizational, written and oral communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: Minimum $80,444 – Midpoint $104,573 – Maximum $128,700.
