Rape Crisis Center
Rape Crisis Center Volunteer Advocate
Rape Crisis Center, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, United States, 29588
Being a volunteer advocate for the Rape Crisis Center means
taking a stand
against sexual violence in our community and being
direct support for survivors
when they are most vulnerable. Each volunteer advocate is asked to cover the 24-hour crisis line and hospital accompaniment for three shifts per month. During a shift, you may get calls from survivors searching for someone to talk to or a request to accompany a survivor at a local hospital. Most shifts are overnight and during the day on weekends. You won’t get calls every shift, but when you do, you are an essential lifeline for whoever is on the phone. Volunteering for RCC is a great way to get involved in the community, specifically if you: v Are concerned about preventing sexual violence and bringing offenders to justice v Are a student looking for experience in social services, advocacy, law enforcement & Healthcare v Are new to the area and looking for a way to contribute and/or make friends who share a passion for service v Have prior experience with healthcare, social services, or law enforcement and want to put your skills to use v Have empathy and a desire to assist individuals and families affected by interpersonal violence v Want to make the Myrtle Beach area a safer place for everyone. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer advocate, please contact Sharon Jackson Beaty via email, at sharon@victimtosurvivor.org, or call 843-448-3180. 3 shifts available: Saturday, Sunday, Holidays: 07:00 to 15:00 EST Sunday - Saturday: 15:00 to 23:00 EST Sunday - Saturday: 23:00 to 07:00 EST
