Kelly® Science & Clinical is seeking a
Chemist
for a direct hire position at a premier client in
Portland, OR .
Pay:
$20.50/hour
Schedule:
M-F day shift
Overview This client is an industry‑leading company focused on providing analytical testing services. In this role you will work in the Inorganic Chemistry Laboratory to deliver accurate and efficient analytical results.
Responsibilities
Perform sample extractions according to documented methods and SOPs.
Conduct routine extraction, chemical isolation, and sample clean‑up using techniques such as blending, shaking, Soxhlet extraction, digestion, SPE, distillation/condensation, liquid‑liquid partitioning, and chemical derivatization.
Independently document and prepare reagents and analytical standards following current SOPs.
Operate laboratory equipment, including blenders, nitrogen and rotary evaporators, shakers, pH meters, centrifuges, and other bench instruments.
Report deviations or changes to established procedures and record such changes appropriately.
Complete extraction‑related quality control (QC) checks and record entries in compliance with protocols and SOPs.
Enter observational results into the LIMS, such as BRIX readings, dilutions, moisture, and pH measurements.
Troubleshoot extraction procedures, sample processing issues (particularly with complex matrices), and lab contamination; coordinate solutions with supervisors.
Troubleshoot, repair, and coordinate maintenance and verification of laboratory equipment.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Chemistry or a related science from a four‑year college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Familiarity with sample preparation, extraction, and bench chemistry techniques.
Experience maintaining laboratory support equipment such as pH meters, centrifuges, balances, vacuum pumps, water baths, freezers, and pipettes.
Some related laboratory experience or training.
Capacity to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
