Summary
The Director of Accounting oversees the organization's financial operations and internal controls. This role ensures compliance with regulatory standards, maintains accurate financial records, and provides strategic financial insights to support business decisions.
Key Responsibilities Financial Controls & Compliance Develop and maintain internal control systems to safeguard company assets and prevent fraud. Ensure compliance with SOX policies and procedures. Maintain financial records in accordance with IFRS and company accounting standards. Accounting Operations Lead all core accounting functions, including General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, Cost Accounting, Credit, and Tax Schedules. Oversee monthly and annual financial closings, ensuring timely and accurate preparation of financial statements. Financial Reporting & Analysis Prepare and present financial reports, including variance analysis between forecasts and business plans. Communicate financial performance to senior management and internal stakeholders. Provide actionable recommendations based on financial data and trends. Forecasting & Budgeting Lead the monthly forecasting process, offering clear explanations for changes and variances. Direct the preparation and review of annual budgets, including supporting documentation and analysis. Cost Accounting & Fixed Assets Approve product costs, including raw materials, labor, and overhead. Manage the fixed asset lifecycle, including approvals, setup, depreciation, disposal, and physical audits. Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with other departments to deliver financial insights and support strategic decision-making. Coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring timely documentation and responses. Special Projects Lead or support ad hoc financial projects and initiatives as assigned by senior leadership. Supervisory Responsibilities Lead and manage the Accounting Department, including staff in accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, and credit. Oversee recruitment, training, performance evaluations, and professional development of team members. Ensure compliance with organizational policies and applicable laws in all supervisory activities. Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; CPA certification highly preferred Minimum of 5-10 years of relevant accounting experience in a manufacturing environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Proven experience with
Oracle ERP
or similar enterprise financial systems. Language Skills
Proficient in reading and interpreting business publications, technical documents, and regulations. Skilled in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals. Strong presentation skills, able to convey complex financial information to diverse audiences. Mathematical & Analytical Skills
Strong command of financial ratios, variance analysis, and trend evaluation. Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts to financial data. Reasoning Ability
Demonstrated ability to identify problems, analyze data, and draw logical conclusions. Skilled in interpreting complex financial variances and adapting to company accounting standards.
