Environmental Health & Safety Manager Description

The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager will serve as a key leader and partner within Readerlink’s EHS Department, with responsibility for overseeing and managing all aspects of environmental, health, and safety compliance across U.S.-based office, warehouse, and distribution operations. This includes the planning, development, execution, and continuous improvement of EHS programs and training to support compliance with U.S. regulations such as OSHA and EPA, and to align the EHS Management System with federal and state requirements.

Essential Functions

Assist the EHS Director in administering the EHS Management System.

Lead, develop, and manage the implementation of EHS programs across multiple sites, ensuring consistency, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Develop and facilitate EHS programs, including policies, procedures, and training aimed at reducing incident rates and enhancing communication.

Monitor regulatory changes and update the Management System accordingly.

Partner with site and operational leadership to integrate EHS objectives into business planning and performance goals.

Conduct assurance audits, both virtual and in person, to ensure site-level compliance.

Collaborate with site representatives to develop hazard risk assessments, job hazard analyses, PPE assessments, safety permits, hazard reporting, and data collection.

Support incident management and investigations, including root-cause determination and corrective actions.

Administer the Return‑to‑Work program and claims management in partnership with HR.

Coordinate waste storage, handling, and disposal, and complete annual Tier II reporting.

Manage the EHS training program, including content development, delivery, and electronic recordkeeping.

Coordinate monthly EHS Office and Operations Committee meetings and support local committee meetings.

Maintain the EHS electronic data system for incident reporting, inspections, and training.

Maintain the EHS department’s web pages and weekly shift starter communications.

Track, analyze, and report metrics to identify trends and recommend improvement initiatives.

Handle federal, state, and municipal environmental and H&S reporting.

Represent EHS objectives in cross‑functional teams and deliver on team goals.

Present EHS performance metrics to senior leadership and recommend improvement initiatives.

Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and empowerment across EHS initiatives.

Travel up to 15% of the time to conduct audits, walkthroughs, and incident management.

Regular and reliable attendance is required; work cannot be performed remotely.

Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree (BS or BA) in a related field.

Minimum of five (5) years of EHS experience, preferably in warehouse, logistics, or distribution environments.

Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) certificate, with CSP preferred.

Demonstrated leadership experience managing EHS programs across multiple sites.

Strong communication, interpersonal, and change‑management skills.

Working knowledge of U.S. EHS regulations, including OSHA and EPA.

Experience in incident reporting and investigation.

Experience developing and executing EHS program documentation and training.

Excellent communication and advisory abilities.

Strong organizational and multi‑priority management skills.

Capability to maintain strict confidentiality.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other internet‑based tools.

Ability to influence and lead in a matrixed organization.

Language Skills

Excellent written and verbal communication in English.

Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

Reasoning Ability

Apply common sense to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.

Deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.

Work Environment

Office and warehouse distribution setting.
