Schedule:
Monday-Saturday (0700-1700, 10-hour shifts) – 60 hours/week
Project Scope:
This short-term assignment supports safety oversight during a facility shutdown involving the removal and replacement of epoxy flooring. The Safety Manager will provide on-site safety leadership throughout all phases of demolition, surface prep, and installation, ensuring a compliant and incident-free environment.
Key Focus Areas:
Daily monitoring of contractor activities during shutdown operations
Oversight of confined space and chemical handling procedures
Conducting toolbox talks, orientations, and hazard communication training
Verifying PPE compliance and enforcing OSHA standards
Coordinating with facility management and project supervisors to maintain continuous safety coverage
Responsibilities:
Conducting daily site safety inspections and hazard assessments
Leading safety meetings, toolbox talks, and employee orientations
Managing incident investigations, corrective actions, and safety documentation
Enforcing OSHA 29 CFR 1926 and facility-specific safety procedures
Maintaining a proactive safety presence in the field, not just administrative oversight
Qualifications:
OSHA 510 Certification (required)
Minimum of 3 years of construction or industrial safety experience
Strong understanding of confined space, PPE, and chemical handling protocols
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Ability to lead by example and foster a proactive safety culture
Knowledge Base:
Facility shutdown and floor replacement safety procedures
OSHA 29 CFR 1926 compliance standards
Job hazard analysis, hazard communication, and risk mitigation strategies
Incident reporting, documentation, and root cause analysis
