Toolroom CNC/EDM Machinist-Programmer
Location: Bryant, IN | Compensation: Up to $33/hour | Employment Type: Full-Time, Direct-Hire
Aegis is partnering with a leading manufacturer in Bryant, IN to add a hands‑on Toolroom CNC/EDM Machinist‑Programmer to the Machine Shop. Step into a role where your precision machining, programming, and troubleshooting skills keep production moving and costs under control.
A day in the shop You clock in and pull up the day’s blueprints. First task: translate a complex drawing into a precise plan of cut paths, feeds, and speeds. After validating your program, you set up a 3–4 axis VMC and run the first‑off part, measuring features against GD&T callouts. An EDM job is next—you fine‑tune parameters, then pivot to support a new equipment start‑up, verifying PLC I/O, chasing a sensor fault on a CNC lathe, and documenting findings in the ERP. Before lunch, you consult with the Die Tech and parts cage teams to tweak a tool repair to reduce cost and downtime. The afternoon wraps with a preventive maintenance check on a manual mill and updating project notes in Microsoft 365.
What you’ll do
Interpret blueprints and manufacture high‑precision components to spec.
Operate, maintain, and improve machine shop assets including CNC mills/lathes and EDM equipment.
Program EDM equipment and create/adjust CNC programs (G‑code/M‑code) for efficient throughput.
Support new equipment commissioning and ongoing CNC upkeep.
Troubleshoot issues using electrical schematics and PLC diagnostics.
Partner with Die Tech and parts cage teams to drive cost reductions and process improvements.
Participate in assigned projects to improve quality, safety, and efficiency across the shop.
What you bring
Associate’s degree (or higher) in machining, manufacturing, or a related field.
1–5 years of experience in machining/manufacturing environments.
Strength in blueprint analysis, CNC programming/setup, and PLC troubleshooting.
Comfort with Microsoft 365 (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and ERP systems.
Clear communication, solid organization, and a pragmatic problem‑solving mindset.
Ability to work independently and collaborate to meet deadlines.
