Under the direction of the department director, the Clinical Coordinator has responsibility for the effective implementation of the philosophy, goals, policies, and procedures of the hospital and the nursing department and their effect on patient care in the department. Essential Functions
Identifies existing and potential problems and seek or implement appropriate solutions. Performs plan of care interventions. Documents patient care given. Provides nursing care through planning, organizing, and facilitating the nursing function for assigned patients. Monitors, documents, and communicates patient\'s status and reactions to interventions physician, patient, and families. Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient. Demonstrates clinical competence in relevant area of nursing practice Demonstrates leadership ability and potential managerial competency. Evidence of this includes, but is not limited to, effective communication skills, ability to deal well with people, ability to problem solve, ability to confront/resolve issues, ability to motivate others, ability to plan, organize and direct the activities of others. Assists in the development, implementation and evaluation of on going service programs which assure quality nursing, and patient care programs consistent with the hospital mission. (i.e., JCAHO changes, CMS quality and safety parameters) Assists with monitoring/maintaining unit compliance with regulatory, accrediting and hospital policy for patient services, and environmental and personnel safety. Collaborates with director/manager to oversee unit PI program that monitors and evaluates critical aspects of care. Ensures positive resolution in handling conflict with patients, families, physicians, staff, visitors, community resources, etc. and, if unable to resolve, refers to appropriate management team member In collaboration with director, is responsible for effective and efficient fiscal management of unit operations within budgetary guidelines. In collaboration with director/manager, is responsible for department’s operational excellence; assures department delivers quality care/treatment/service in accordance with applicable policies, procedures and professional standards. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Qualifications
Education
Associates degree in Nursing Required Bachelors degree in Nursing Preferred Licenses/Certifications
Basic Life Support (BLS)-Required ACLS within 6 months of hire PALS within 6 months of hire Handle with Care Certification within 6 months Valid licensure in the State as a Registered Nurse (RN) or multistate license. Experience
Must have six (6) months of clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) in a direct patient care setting. Five years of clinical experience preferred Seniority level
