So,... are you ready? Job Summary: The Compliance Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for regulatory and institutional compliance matters within the College of Veterinary Medicine. This position coordinates and supports compliance programs related to occupational health, radiation safety, biosafety, controlled substances, hazardous waste management, animal research oversight, and USDA regulatory requirements. The role ensures alignment with applicable federal and state regulations, university policies, and accreditation standards while fostering a culture of safety and ethical responsibility across teaching, research, and clinical operations. Performs other duties as assigned. Job Duties: 50% - Essential - Program Coordination & Oversight: Occupational Health: Liaise with the university's occupational health program, facilitating enrollment, tracking participation, and communicating program requirements to faculty, staff, and students. Radiation Safety: Liaise with the university Radiation Safety Office, ensuring proper registration, training, and use of radiation-producing equipment and radioactive materials. Biosafety: Support compliance with biosafety regulations and practices by coordinating training, inspections, and reporting in partnership with the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC). Controlled Substances: Support enforcement of college-wide procedures for the secure storage, inventory, use, and disposal of controlled drugs in compliance with DEA and state requirements. Hazardous Waste: Oversee hazardous waste management protocols, including collection, storage, labeling, and vendor coordination for proper disposal. IACUC & Animal Welfare: Provide administrative and compliance support for Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) processes, including protocol tracking, inspections, and training. USDA Compliance: Ensure compliance with USDA Animal Welfare Act regulations, including required reporting, inspections, and recordkeeping. Policy Support: Provide general administrative support to the policy development and approval process, liaising with the Office of Compliance and Ethics to monitor workflows in Policy Central. 20% - Essential - Training & Education: Develop and deliver compliance-related training materials for faculty, staff, and students. Maintain training records and ensure timely completion of mandatory compliance requirements. 20% - Essential - Monitoring & Reporting: Conduct internal audits, inspections, and self-assessments to verify adherence to regulatory requirements. Maintain documentation and prepare reports for university offices, regulators, and accrediting bodies. 10% - Essential - Collaboration & Communication: Act as the liaison between the College of Veterinary Medicine and central compliance, safety, and regulatory offices. Communicate updates on regulatory changes, best practices, and compliance expectations. Minimum Requirements: Education - Bachelor's Degree - related field such as veterinary sciences, biological sciences, public health, safety, compliance, or related discipline. Equivalent combined education and experience may be considered. Work Experience - experience and knowledge in one or more of the listed federal and state compliance areas: OSHA, DEA, USDA, NIH, NRC, EPA. Preferred Requirements: Work Experience - experience in an academic veterinary or biomedical research setting. Familiarity with AAALAC accreditation processes and USDA AWA.
