Head Counselor Diocese of Green Bay Seasonal/Non-Benefit Eligible

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: The primary role of the seasonal Head Counselor position is to serve as a resource for camp counselors in all aspects of their day-to-day responsibilities. Ideally, the head counselor is someone who has proven to be an exemplary counselor and can step in wherever needed throughout the summer. It is imperative this individual understands the mission/vision of both the Diocese of Green Bay and Camp Tekakwitha. The ideal candidate is one who has a desire to serve the campers, staff, and community deeply rooted in the Catholic faith. As a member of the lead team, this individual is expected to be a role model and set a standard of excellence for the camp counselors, kitchen aides, and counselors in training. While employed at Camp Tekakwitha, this individual must follow the most basic doctrine of the Catholic Church to align with the mission/vision of the Diocese of Green Bay. The ideal candidate will be an example as a Missionary Disciple with a servant heart.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED: "Embrace the mission and vision of the Catholic Diocese of Green Bay and work in accordance with Catholic Teachings and the moral and ethical values of the Catholic Church." Applicant must be 19 years of age and possess a valid driver's license Must be first aid/CPR certified (or willing to be trained) Lifeguard certification preferred (or willing to be trained) Understanding of the mission/vision of Camp Tekakwitha Understanding of Catholic Church teachings and practices Must have a background as a Camp Counselor, including at least one year of previous youth camp staff experience (preferably at Camp Tekakwitha) Demonstrate knowledge of human development for program implementation and age-specific activities Proficiency with conflict resolution and problem solving Must be a proficient listener and communicator with people from all walks of life Adequate knowledge of the summer camp world, youth programming, and Catholicism Collaborative decision-making skills and conflict management Able to work well with people of all backgrounds and all ages Strong relational ability to serve as a member of a team, work independently, lead small groups, and work one on one with individuals Competency in aligning to mission/vision, state standards, and ACA regulations Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint Excellent verbal communication skills Strong decision-making skills Time management Project management Interpersonal communication Meets deadlines Methodical, logical, patient, careful, detail-oriented and accurate Confidentiality Positivity Adaptability to new situations Works well under pressure Superb organization skills Work effectively independently and in a team environment Enjoy being with young people Must be well organized and able to work independently
