Your Tasks
Set goals, monitor progress, and ensure accountability for teams and individual members
Accountable for managing resources to ensure key quality metrics are met
Collaborate with internal and external customers' quality and engineering personnel to determine critical part features and review manufacturability of design
Make recommendations to modify customer part specifications and tolerances as necessary to support cost effective production
Provide engineering support to operations ensuring consistent application of quality techniques
Resolve quality issues by identifying problems, examining solution options, implementing action plans, and providing resources
Effectively communicate and reinforce company commitment to quality improvement efforts
Determine when process stability and capability studies should be performed on existing processes. Review and analyze results. Recommend changes to processes based upon findings and perform follow up to verify effectiveness
Participate and coordinate with other departments (i.e.: Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Purchasing, Logistics, Operations, etc.) product Quality planning activities to determine appropriate use of existing and new systems
Facilitate and promote use of appropriate problem-solving techniques for effective root cause analysis and successful corrective action
Participate directly within internal and external customer feedback systems; drive improvement plans where necessary
Assist the Purchasing team in the improvement of supplier standards and drive their implementation into the supply base
Lead and or conduct on site supplier evaluations both before supplier selection and after.
Oversee the implement risk-based inspection strategies, leveraging internal process and supplier histories and data analytics to optimize efficiency.
Lead local efforts aligning with ISO quality certifications and ensure ongoing recertifications and compliance.
Lead regional efforts by partnering with other division leaders to ensure ongoing ISO certifications and compliance. Monitor group adherence to business operating system (BOS) as established by company leadership team.
Your Skills
Bachelor's degree in engineering, Operations and/or technical discipline preferred.
Minimum of 5 years' quality experience required
Knowledge of certified quality management system (e.g. TS 16949, ISO)
Customer quality assurance experience
Previous audit experience; internal and external
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
Technical knowledge of steel fabrication and assembly processes preferred
Formal training and previous experience with part, sub-assembly, and final assembly audits preferred
Project management experience preferred
Certified Quality Engineer preferred
Background in GD&T preferred
Understanding of manufacturing and/or lean processes is desired
Knowledge of:
Applicable codes, rules and regulations related to the area of assignment
Quality engineering and quality assurance principles
Principles of quality planning and creating a quality plan
Failure investigation, root cause and corrective action processes
Nonconformance management and reporting
Quality management system standards
Qualification process and testing
Risk management process
ERP and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)
Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) techniques
Standard Measuring Inspection (SMI) equipment
Applicable machine shop, weld, composite, propellant, electrical and assembly processes
Non-Destructive Test inspection processes
Dimensional, visual, sample and witness inspection processes
Tooling/gage processes

Calibrations system requirements
Computer systems and applicable software programs such as Microsoft Office suite
Data mining quality management data techniques
Ability to:
Audit, interpret and evaluate data and processes
