PGS Worldwide is actively seeking an experienced
CNC Machinist
for a
6-month contract-to-hire
opportunity in
Lake Charles, Louisiana . This role supports precision machining operations in a high-reliability aerospace environment. The ideal candidate will be proficient in 3-axis CNC machine operations, manual machining, and blueprint interpretation. This is a hands-on opportunity to work on critical components with tight tolerances and to contribute to mission-essential manufacturing programs.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum
5 years of experience
on
3-axis CNC machines Experience with
manual machining , including set-up and operation of mills, lathes, and grinders Familiarity with
Mazatrol and Fanuc (HAAS) controllers Ability to
read and interpret blueprints, production diagrams, and technical specs Skilled in using
precision measuring tools : micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, etc. Capable of performing
unique setups
and machining a wide variety of metals Strong understanding of machining fundamentals, tooling, feeds, speeds, and shop math Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with
4-axis and 5-axis CNC machining CAM programming experience with
Mastercam CAD/CAM experience using
SolidWorks
or
NX Siemens Proficiency in
5-axis simultaneous machining
using Fanuc Mill (HAAS) controls Strong mechanical assembly knowledge for fitting and integration of precision parts Key Responsibilities:
Set up and operate CNC and manual machine tools, including lathes, mills, and grinders Manufacture precision components to exacting tolerances based on blueprints and engineering specifications Monitor and verify quality during machining processes Perform accurate layout and measurement using machinist tools Fit and assemble precision parts into larger mechanical equipment Maintain a clean and safe work area and complete all required documentation Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and resolve production challenges
