Overview
Chemist I
– Battelle, located at the CDC Chamblee Campus in Atlanta, Georgia. Full‑time clinical laboratory position within the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Division of Laboratory Sciences (DLS). Requires a CDC security clearance and on‑site work.
Responsibilities
Assist senior research staff in operating the CDC Clinical Standardization Programs.
Perform sample aliquoting and preparation using automation equipment.
Maintain reagent and instrument inventory.
Coordinate participant contact information and quarterly shipments.
Communicate daily with participants and process data for analysis and presentation of results.
Conduct analysis of samples by mass spectrometry and automated chemistry platforms.
Adhere to universal precautions for handling biological samples and waste.
Follow CDC/NCEH/DLS, ISO, and CLIA guidelines for laboratory protocols and quality control.
Treat all data as confidential per CDC and Battelle policy.
Maintain laboratory safety and security standards.
Key Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in chemistry.
Technical knowledge and experience with analytical laboratory procedures and instrumentation such as chromatography and mass spectrometry.
Experience with instrumental analytics is desirable.
Strong communication and writing skills.
Documented experience in routine laboratory operations using established methods.
Experience in laboratory administrative operations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
