Hawaiian Standard Time About the Role
The Patient Accounting Representative is responsible for processing insurance claims, billing, and managing patient accounts. This role requires strong attention to detail, compliance with regulations, and excellent communication skills to interact with insurance carriers, providers, and patients. Key Responsibilities Review, audit, and process insurance claims and billing reports in compliance with state/federal regulations
Receive and verify requests for medical information and related documentation
Communicate with insurance carriers, providers, and patients to ensure accurate and timely processing
Collect monies owed for inpatient/outpatient services from third-party payers and patients
Maintain accurate documentation and update patient demographics for rebilling
Investigate delinquent accounts, determine collectability, and prepare write-offs
Document all collection actions in system and maintain follow-up schedules
Assist with reporting insurance trends and resolving denials
Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent
At least 1 year of collections or medical insurance claims processing experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Office Suite
Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications Certified Medical Biller or Associate's Degree in related field
Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT-4, ICD-9-CM coding
Experience with Epic and Change Health Care systems
10-key by touch and familiarity with collections applications
Pay Details:
$23.00 to $25.00 per hour
